Sad news hits the anime industry, as it was announced today that singer Sayuri, known for performing the endings of popular anime such as Lycoris Recoil, My Hero Academia (Season 4), Erased, among others, has passed away at the age of 28.
Singer Sayuri passed away at 28 years old
As reported in a statement shared on Sayuri’s official X account, the artist passed away on September 20, and her farewell was held in a private ceremony, in the presence of her loved ones and close relatives. In this last time, Sayuri had been struggling with a chronic illness, according to Amaarashi, the singer’s husband.

We would like to humbly inform everyone who has been supporting Sayuri that she passed away on September 20.
She was 28 years old.
In accordance with her family’s wishes, the funeral was held privately and only close family and acquaintances attended.
We sincerely thank you for your support of Sayuri throughout her life and pray with you for her eternal peace.
We ask members of the media to respect the family’s deep sorrow and to refrain from contacting them or requesting interviews with related individuals.
In addition, as Sayuri was working as a freelancer, we have been receiving fan letters and other correspondence at the production company’s live office. We kindly ask that you refrain from sending any further condolence messages at this time.

Japanese singer Sayuri got her start in the anime industry in 2015 by performing the closing theme song for the anime “Ranpo Kitan: Game of Laplace”. Throughout her career, Sayuri also participated in other anime, including My Hero Academia, Lycoris Recoil, Erased, Kuzu no Honkai, Fate/Extra: Last Encore, Edens Zero, and more.
