Parasyte, the epic series of horror, psychological drama, science fiction and action that returns after 10 years, with the announcement of a new live-action project, which will be released on the famous streaming platform “Netflix”. Parasyte is a work of Hitoshi Iwaaki, his manga was published from 1988 to 1995. In its time it gained much popularity due to its plot, so much that in 2014 and 2015, it was adapted into an anime and in the form of two live-action movies by Tōhō Studios and Robot Communications in Japan.

On March 6, 2024, through Netflix’s official X/Twitter account, the leading streaming platform released a shocking announcement revealing that it will premiere a new project of the Parasyte franchise. This project will be called “Parasyte: The Greys“, so far only the first trailer and several visuals have been revealed to promote this interesting project.
In the X post, Netflix leaves us with an intriguing description that says that “when unidentified parasites violently take over human hosts and gain power, humanity must rise up to combat the growing threat.” From there Netflix grabs us to already want to watch this project. Its trailer only lasts 1 minute and 34 seconds, but it is enough time to show us everything this new adaptation promises to have, giving us a taste of the incredible special effects it will have.
A few hours after Netflix revealed this spectacular project, users began to express their excitement to see new material from this franchise. As it usually happens, there was no shortage of fans who criticize the quality of this new adaptation and hope that the good Netflix does not spoil it, because Parasyte is quite identifiable for its suspense and drama.
Watch out, because this new project “Parasyte: The Greys” will be an adaptation of the anime and manga, that is, its plot will be attached to this, but it should be clarified that there may be some significant differences in this new project. Get ready if it does not turn off the Parasyte we already know, the differences are more likely to be presented in relation to the characters, although fans in the networks have already begun to point out that the trailer shows that the live-action will have a much faster pace in suspense and drama.
The main notable difference in this new project of “Parasyte: The Greys” is that the main character, or guest, would be a woman, unlike the male character seen in the manga and anime, whose name was Shin’ichi Izumi. The live-action series “Parasyte: The Grays “will premiere next April 5, 2024. Therefore, fans of the anime and manga who want to see how this adaptation made by Netflix looks like, should stay tuned to not miss the first chapter.
Parasyte: The Maxim was another adaptation of the franchise, this one produced by the Madhouse studio and distributed by Sentai Filmworks mainly for the United States and South America. After a while, Netflix became interested in this work and acquired the rights to broadcast the anime on its platform on May 15, 2020, an event that we detailed in due course in this note.
It is not surprising that the streaming giant, Netflix, announces a new anime or manga project, as it has recently brought a trend to get involved in this market, which has worked quite well, with projects such as the live action of One Piece, and Avatar: The Legend of Aang, the premiere of the Pokémon Concierge series and bringing completed seasons of recent and old anime to have them available on its platform. Netflix knows that the anime industry turns out to be very profitable, so it will continue to delight us with more and more anime surprises.
