The official Netflix Latin America account has finally revealed the premiere date for “Parasyte: The Grays.” The long-awaited and mysterious live-action adaptation of Hitoshi Iwaaky’s “Parasyte: The Maxim” (Kiseijuu: Sei no Kakuritsu), one of the anime stories that captivated many fans during the second decade of the 2000s for its suspense, mystery, action and gore.
“Parasyte: The Greys” arrives this coming April on the streaming platform!
Through Netflix’s official account, the streaming company revealed that next April 5 will arrive to its catalog the live action called “Parasyte: Los Grises“, a new adaptation in real format for Hitoshi Iwaaki’s masterpiece. The final trailer was also revealed, giving us a glimpse of the story, which promises to be as close to the manga as possible, but also has the luxury of making some changes that have already raised eyebrows among many fans of the industry.
This new live action version is brought to life by Yeon Sang-ho, director and screenwriter of “Zombie Station” (Train To Busan) and stars Koo Kyo-hwan, Jeon So-nee and Jung Hyun Lee. Actors who with their performances promise us to feel again that same psychological suspense, mystery and excitement as the first time we saw back in 2014, its anime adaptation.
Since the announcement of the project, fans were surprised and excited to see the odyssey of Shin’ichi Izumi and the alien life forms, but it wasn’t until its confirmation as a live action project that both criticism and praise began to pour in. From criticism for its cast of Korean and non-Japanese actors to fan enthusiasm for the fact that this work would bring the story of “Parasyte: The Maxim” (Kiseijuu: Sei no Kakuritsu) to new audiences have been the most common comments among anime fans.
About “Parasyte: The Greys”
The story follows a young girl affected by a mysterious parasite fallen from the sky, she eventually realizes that she is not the only one affected by these strange alien life forms, as there are also many more humans controlled by these parasites creating an army to end human civilization. In an inspired and crucial turn of events, she is totally unaffected by the strange creature living inside her.
Thanks to this, our protagonist will join a unit of humans formed to fight the parasites, seeking revenge for the lives they have taken and thus also desperately seeking the survival of the human species. A story that, unlike the original work, takes some creative liberties, but that through its previews shows us what it is capable of and bets to reach new audiences through a live action version full of emotions.
