Parasite Eve 4 could be a small reality in the distant future, as a recent interview with the franchise’s developers, Yoshi-P and Hironobu Sakaguchi, talked about the future of the work, although this was given in a jovial atmosphere. The interview also gave fans a small glimmer of hope for a possible development, but it should be noted that Sakaguchi said that if there was such a possibility, it would not be done by him, as Square Enix has no interest in the franchise.
Parasite Eve 4 gets a tiny glimmer of hope
In the recent interview with Hironobu Sakaguchi to promote Square Enix’s upcoming FANTASIAN Neo Dimension game, the topic of Parasite Eve was brought up, where Sakaguchi jokingly said he was interested in a new title in the franchise. But he didn’t give gamers much hope, as he implied that the Japanese company is not at all interested in making a new title of a game that is basically a niche game, and to kill the little hope Sakaguchi said that if he does make a new title of the game he wouldn’t be involved.
This interview left a very small glimmer of hope for fans of the series, as we know that Square Enix is currently not going through its best financial moment, because several of its titles lack an identity of their own and their stories and gameplay have failed to convince gamers. This would be a great opportunity for the Japanese game developer, as it would give a breath of fresh air to its catalogue of games, although we know that the game was focused on a more niche audience, as it mixed survival horror with rpg mechanics.
But surprisingly these mechanics were very well designed, giving us an extra difficulty component when facing enemies, hopefully Square will take note of these comments made in the interview and revive the franchise, since its last installment was on Sony’s PSP. This one deviated completely from the turn-based fighting component and its story at the time was not very well received by fans, which ended up killing the series for the time being, but there is still faith that we can see a new Parasite Eve title adapted to modern times.
For those who don’t know what Parasite Eve is about, the story follows Aya Brea, a young NYPD officer, who gets caught up in a series of strange and deadly events related to a genetic mutation known as mitochondria. The game combines elements of horror, sci-fi and RPG, with real-time combat, exploration, puzzle solving and character development – basically a classic survival game of a lifetime.
