What happened, Na-Kyum determined to see Seung-ho again works very hard, makes paintings and small jobs in neighboring villages, because he wants to save enough money to go to the capital. The painter is working in a nearby town while a parade is being held in his village to welcome the new mayor, a young nobleman who got the highest grade in the state exam. Na-Kyum, upon returning, runs into a man who sells paintings and informs him that the new mayor wants to see him, as he liked his paintings very much and wants a portrait.
Na-Kyum without much encouragement goes the next day to see the mayor, knocks on the door and a servant receives him, when he enters the courtyard it is full of peach blossom trees, the painter takes a moment to appreciate them while several leaves fall.
- Sirviente: It’s a peculiar taste, don’t you think? He says they remind him of the love of his life.
The painter is announced and passes into a huge hall, where the mayor is covered by a curtain, so it is difficult to see his face, the painter is about to say his name when he looks down and looks at the painting he painted years ago when he was kidnapped by that man who wanted to hurt Seung-ho.
- Seung-ho: So… You are Baek Na-Kyum? I enjoy your paintings very much!
We appreciate those words that Seung-ho said to Na-Kyum the first time he met him, the painter looks up and the mayor begins to lift the curtain finally showing his face, both look at each other, the author places a general shot so we can appreciate how both characters are in the same room while the window is in the background and we appreciate how the trees drop their leaves.
- Seung-ho: Why do you just stare at me? Come and hold me, have you already forgotten my face?
Both characters look at each other, Seung-ho stretches out his arms, Na-Kyum’s eyes fill with tears, she imitates her master’s posture and runs to embrace him, both characters melt in that deep embrace and that’s how the story of Painter of The Night ends.
