Recently in Japan, a fan of the famous Oshi no Ko franchise attacked a co-worker after he told him a part of the plot that he didn’t know yet, and the situation reached such levels that even the police had to intervene.
Oshi no Ko fan faces authorities for assaulting someone who ruined history for him
The story takes place in Kyoto Prefecture, where a 50-year-old man who works as a general registrar at the Kyoto District Legal Affairs Office has been sent to the Prosecutor’s Office on suspicion of assault for allegedly grabbing and kicking a subordinate in the chest. According to interviews with co-workers, the man reacted in an aggressive manner and assaulted his co-worker after overhearing talk of Oshi no Ko during a conversation.
According to people who witnessed the incident, on April 1, the man was at the Uji branch of the Kyoto District Legal Affairs Office (Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture) and while chatting with a subordinate about the same age as him, the subordinate told him about some events in “Oshi no Ko“. The man then angrily attacked his co-worker, claiming that he “didn’t want the story to be spoiled,” but fortunately, no one was injured in the mishap.
A complaint was filed by one of the workers with the Uji police on April 30 regarding this incident and is currently under investigation to determine the authorities’ verdict on the actions of this Oshi no Ko fan. The Legal Affairs Office, the workplace of the person who caused the problem, has stated in an interview for a newspaper called “Mainichi Simbun” the following: “Due to the ongoing investigation, we will refrain from commenting” and so far this is the information that is known about this situation, we will have to wait to know if this will have a major impact for the Oshi no Ko fan.
Definitely, there are people who are very passionate about their favorite stories and do not take kindly to other people telling them something about those stories that may ruin their experience or reveal important data that spoil the surprise elements that are within the plot just to cause impact to viewers. However, it is crucial to know how to control the reactions you have to avoid causing an incident, and sometimes it is inevitable that we get this kind of information about stories, especially if they are as popular as Oshi no Ko.
Nowadays, it is quite easy to transmit these spoilers to the world thanks to tools such as technology where many times people find out what will happen particularly in a manga thanks to the leaks that are published on the internet and this has caused great discomfort to the otaku community.
