More than 4 years since its initial release, the Musou One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 continues to give a lot to talk about due to its new and unexpected downloadable characters. After Bandai Namco added popular characters like Yamato or Uta, they have just revealed the first character of their sixth pack: none other than Gol D. Roger, the Pirate King. Not to mention that they also gave a hint of who the next two DLCs will be.
Gol D. Roger, the Pirate King, is coming soon to One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4!
In the huge world of One Piece, there is no pirate more famous or more important than Gol D. Roger. This is because he and his crew traveled all over the world until they reached Laugh Tale and found the legendary treasure known as the “One Piece”. When he was about to be executed by the World Government, Roger revealed that the treasure was still hidden and had to be found, which led to the creation of a new generation of pirates. However, at his best, Gol D. Roger was a mighty warrior capable of taking on Barbablanca himself. And it is that young version of the character that will now be added to Pirate Warriors 4.
Gol D. Roger didn’t eat a Devil Fruit, so his battle style focuses on his mastery of the 3 types of Haki: Weaponry, Observation and Emperor’s Haki. In the trailer released by Bandai Namco, we can notice that his battle style will remain intact when we control him in One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4: We can see him executing the powerful Emperor Haki clash he had with Barbablanca and even uses his most powerful technique, known as Kamusari. In the short demo video that Bandai Namco posted on Twitter we can also see Roger throwing waves of Haki with his sword, similar to how Shanks fights in the same game.
Gol D. Roger seems to be a really powerful character who will be able to keep whole hordes of enemies in check, so he will be very satisfying to use in combat. And this makes a lot of sense, because he was one of the strongest characters in the entire series. He earned the title “King of Pirates” for a reason. There is still no concrete release date for Roger’s DLC, but we do know that he will be the first character in the sixth downloadable pack for One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4, and his announcement confirms that this one will have a focus on important figures from the older generation of pirates.
At the end of the trailer revealing the inclusion of Gol D. Roger, we can briefly see silhouettes of two characters and hear them speak. Based on their designs and voices, it’s clear that these are young versions of Silvers Rayleigh and Monkey D. Garp, when they were the same age as Roger was in his prime. We already want these two iconic historical figures to be added to One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4, as we wonder what their gameplay will be like. For now, we only know that they will arrive “Very Soon”.
