One Piece, the famous manga created by Eiichiro Oda is undoubtedly one of the references of the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, since the release of the first volume in the last years of the last century, its popularity has not ceased and like other equally popular works, it has been gaining fans from different generations who long to someday see the wonderful outcome of this adventure.
Its fame is such that it has even been recognized as the number one manga of the 100 best manga in history among the Japanese public, taking into account that it is still in publication with just over 100 volumes collected. Not only that, but its success has made it a world famous franchise, with multiple animated adaptations, spin-offs, merchandise, collaborations, video games and most recently a live action adaptation.
One Piece live action shows its funniest side
This year, One Piece fans were anxiously awaiting one of the most promising news for the franchise, the live action adaptation by the streaming platform Netflix. This generated several expectations around the project, since on previous occasions this type of adaptations have not enjoyed good reviews from fans and the general public, as bringing to life this type of graphic stories is complicated.
But after the long-awaited premiere of the live action inspired by One Piece, the opinions of these adaptations changed completely, as it turned out to be a resounding success that managed to stay in first place in international trends. This One Piece live action proved that it is possible to do a job that exceeds the expectations of the fans and allows others to approach the franchise.
Perhaps one of the elements that make it the exception is the fact that the author is allowed to participate in the entire creative process, in addition to the actors and actresses who were in the cast, achieving a great interpretation of their characters. Highlighting the latter, we must say that there was no lack of laughter during the filming.
Recently, Netflix Geeked through its official Twitter account shared a small video compilation of what we call bloopers, mostly funny scenes in which the characters go out of their interpretation and of course the script. It is about several “mistakes” during the recordings of the first season of the One Piece live action.
This compilation has an introduction as if it were any other promo of the live action, but as the video progresses the laughs begin. We can see that in some moments the concentration is lost, it takes inspiration to make funny expressions or even forget their dialogues. Other failures have to do with the props, for example, when the weapons break in action scenes or with the characterization of the characters, the costumes become complicated to manipulate.
Although undoubtedly one of the most outstanding moments is found in a scene between Buggy and Luffy, where the actor Jeff Ward, with the intention of motivating him in his interpretation, makes a comment to Iñaki Godoy about him being a “kid who always loses in FIFA”. Which makes us suppose that the actor who plays Buggy has beaten him more times than he remembers.
Fans of the One Piece franchise surely loved this type of publication, and while they are still waiting for the second season they will want to see more of this content or other surprises to come in the future.
