According to a report by Weekly Shonen Jump news user Shonen Jump News (@WSJ_manga), Eiichiro Oda’s popular manga One Piece will go on hiatus starting next week with the release of Weekly Shonen Jump’s 48th issue. However, it was specified that the break will only be for 2 weeks, as the manga will resume serialisation in the 50th issue of the same magazine.
It was also announced yesterday that the anime adaptation of the One Piece manga will pause the broadcasting of the ‘Egghead’ arc until April 2025. Until that date, ‘One Piece Fan Letter’ and ‘One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga’, a special edited version of the original arc of the series, will air at the end of this October.
One Piece manga to pause publication for 2 weeks
The One Piece manga, written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda, began publication in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in July 1997. The manga has published 109 compilation volumes in total and a few days ago it was reported that the work surpassed 500 million copies in circulation.
On October 20, 1999, the One Piece manga premiered an anime adaptation that is currently still airing and consists of 14 movies, various OVAS and specials. The animation studio Toei Animation is in charge of the production of the anime under the direction of Konosuke Uda. The series has been dubbed into English, which is available on the Netflix platform.
