This week will see the release of many titles, including a new One Piece game, the long-awaited sequel to Super Bomberman R, remasters of 2 classic Nintendo Gamecube RPGs and much more, both physical and digital. Luckily for us, the site Gematsu published the complete list of all the video games coming out this week in Japan, along with a discount code to buy them through the PlayAsia site. Here we summarize the entire list, with a brief description of each title!
One Piece, Bomberman, Baten Kaitos, Dead Cells and more coming to Japan this week

The great thing about this new collection of video games coming out this week in Japan is that it has a lot of variety: There’s something for everyone Are you a fan of One Piece and/or the “Musou” genre? Are you looking for a colorful game to try with your friends and/or did you miss the classic Bomberman character? Do you know the underrated RPG series called Baten Kaitos? Do you like the indie title Dead Cells because of its inspiration from the Castlevania saga? If any (or all) of your answers to these questions were “YES”, then the following list of new releases is going to get your attention:
New games in physical and digital format:
- One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 Deluxe Edition: Available on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. It is the definitive version of the latest Musou game based on the popular pirate series One Piece by Eiichiro Oda. The Deluxe Edition Includes all 9 downloadable characters and unlocks Charlotte Katakuri earlier. Note that more DLC for One Piece will be released very soon, including Luffy Gear 5, Yamato and Kaido in his Hybrid Form.
- Super Bomberman R2: Out simultaneously worldwide and available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. The anticipated sequel to 2017’s Super Bomberman R, you’ll be able to take part in the entertaining multiplayer modes of this classic saga. This time it will also come with a bunch of guest characters, such as the “beans” from the popular Fall Guys game.
- Baten Kaitos I & II HD Remaster: Available exclusively on Nintendo Switch (At least for now) this is an HD collection of two underrated RPGs that were originally released on the Nintendo GameCube in 2003 and 2006 respectively. With a gripping storyline and an innovative card combat system, these are two quality titles that any fan of the genre should try for themselves.
- Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania: Now available in the rest of the world for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. This is the special physical version of the indie game that comes with the downloadable package based on Castlevania (Officially licensed by Konami) If you like games of the genre “Metroidvania” you can’t miss it.
- The Crew Motorfest: Released simultaneously worldwide and available for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, it is an entertaining racing simulator with beautiful realistic graphics. It comes in its Standard and Limited Versions.
New games in digital format:
- Super Bomberman R2 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
- The Crew Motorfest for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
- Night Security: An indie horror video game that is currently exclusive to the Steam platform.
It should be noted that these latest titles will be released exclusively in digital format because Microsoft consoles are not as widely sold in Japan as they are in the rest of the world. The fact that new videogames of extremely popular franchises in this country, such as One Piece or Bomberman, are delayed to be released digitally or not even released on Xbox, is a strong sign of this lack of interest on the part of the Japanese market.
