One Piece: Anime and Live Action Meet in Epic Illustration

The new One Piece Live Action series produced by Netflix continues to be a worldwide success that managed to please both existing fans and new audiences. It was even just confirmed to be renewed for a second season, where we will see the beloved Tony Tony Chopper.

This series did so well for a lot of reasons, but one of them was it cast. Each and every one of them not only look identical to their manga & anime counterparts, but they also managed to capture their personalities to perfection. Especially those who play the Straw Hat Pirates. One Piece fans are already fond of this group of talented actors and one artist even decided to bring the two worlds together in this excellent illustration.

One Piece characters meet their real-life versions!

This beautiful illustration was made by artist @meow_nightcat and posted on Twitter, where it is already going viral among One Piece fans. In this one, we can see the original versions of Monkey D. Luffy, Roronoa Zoro, Nami, Usopp and Vinsmoke Sanji meeting their Netflix Live Action versions. It’s amazing how the artist managed to capture the physical and facial features of the cast: even though both crews are drawn, it’s very easy to notice which is which. The small differences that each character has can be appreciated in detail by seeing them together like this.

From bottom to top we have: Luffy and Iñaki Godoy smiling at each other, Zoro and Mackenyu facing each other as if they just woke up, Nami and Emily Rudd admiring each other’s beauty, Usopp and Jacob Romero Gibson scared of each other, and finally Sanji and Taz Skylar smiling elegantly. Now that we know that the second season of One Piece is coming, we can’t wait to see the actors who will play the remaining Straw Hats, such as Tony Tony Chopper, Nico Robin, Franky, Brook and Jinbe. And we hope meow_nightcat will draw them together again when that happens.

El Live Action De One Piece De Netflix Confirma Su Temporada 2

In the caption of the tweet, the artist wrote: “We’ve seen the Live Action version of One Piece too! Not only are the actors cute, and the scenes gorgeous, but the plot is very well adapted The series is really good at being able to summarize the plot in 8 episodes without seeming too rushed! (Although the Baratie arc has been drastically reduced) In addition to the original plot, additional scenes with Koby and Garp were added,” praising the actors’ appearance and the fidelity to the manga that the series’ writers managed to maintain.

One Piece is quickly becoming a global phenomenon, even bigger than it already was before, and a lot of new people are falling in love with the Straw Hat Pirates for the first time. Now, the question is: Which version do you prefer: the animated or the Live Action version?
