The live action adaptation of One Piece has been a topic of conversation that, if you tell me you don’t know anything about it, I almost wouldn’t believe you. This is because previous adaptations, such as Death Note and Dragon Ball, don’t hit the mark. However, in the case of Netflix’s One Piece Live Action, Eiichiro Oda has just taken the lead, sorry, I meant the helm and has made sure that this time everything is his way.
It’s not rare to feel some nostalgia for seeing an anime come to life, and this leaves a lot of fans with certain doubts. Still, this could be the first successful attempt at adapting an anime to live action, and it could live up to expectations, especially with the creator himself watching all the development. This could open the door for One Piece to reach a wider audience and hopefully ends the decades of disastrous adaptations.
Hey, hey! Eiichiro Oda is the one taking the lead on the One Piece Live Action adaptation on Netflix.
This is not just another adaptation, no, sir! This is the perfect occasion to have Oda-sama’s vision inside this iconic franchise, who doesn’t know it already? His iconic characters, his epic plots and his particular style will be present in every frame. That said, you can’t help but be excited for what’s coming.
Oh, and look what Matt Owens, the showrunner (in American and Canadian slang, this is how they refer to the person who assumes the dual role of producer and scriptwriter) behind the One Piece live action, had to say:
I don’t think I’ve ever been this nervous about anything in my entire life,” Owens confessed. Here was this person who created this story that I have so much love and respect for, and I’m asking him to trust me.
I’m not gonna lie, it was hard at first. This wasn’t the first attempt at a One Piece Live Action, and we weren’t the first people to try to put it in a new way.
“But I think when he realized we were coming from the right place, trying to protect this work and create a new path for even more people to fall in love with it, he started to trust us.”
There you have it. Those were the words of Matt Owens. Of course, we can only look forward to what Eiichiro Oda has planned for us in this collaboration with Netflix.
And I don’t know, but if the showrunner himself is talking like this, I think things are going pretty well. No doubt, this is a big step in the right direction to take our pirate spirit to new places, Captain Oda is in charge, and we are more than ready to set sail for One Piece live action!
