In recent days, Nintendo executives announced that a new Nintendo Direct would be held after having been along with Sony PlayStation the big absentees at Gamescom 2024. This was given by social networks, where the Japanese company announced that this would also have a duration of 40 minutes where Indies games and their partners would be present with a duration of 20 minutes per event each. After the celebration of the event, once again there would be no news of the successor of the Nintendo Switch, but a good number of games, which surprised many.
Indie World + Nintendo Direct, an event that delivers great news
This 2024 has definitely not been the year of Nintendo’s surprise events, however, its executives have done a great job and mainly in the June 2024 event they made announcements of high quality for the second half of 2024 such as: TLOZ: Echoes Of Wisdom, Funko Fusion, LEGO Horizon: Adventures, MIO: Memories in Orbit, Mario & Luigi: Brothership and the one that surprised everyone: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.
With those announcements, Nintendo redeemed itself before its fans, and the Nintendo Direct was above average for June events, almost at the end of August it decided to launch a totally renewed event, with the support of Indie World: independent games that always receive the backing of the big companies to publish their interesting games. One of these that started as Indie and ended up being a success for its setting, gameplay and background that leaves more than one thinking after finishing is Undertale launched almost 10 years ago by the visionary Toby Fox.
As for the event, the first part was in charge of Indie World, and the first big announcement was that of “Neva” a video game that will be in charge of Nomada Studio, same that developed the video game “GRIS”, which is a visual indie adventure, impressive and unmissable. The developers gave a capsule explaining the story of the game, where we will be managing Alba, who has to take care of unexpected dangers, but also fill Neva with love and affection. In the Indie World + Nintendo Direct was published the most recent preview of this game, which is a tremendous graphic luxury for indie and video game lovers in general.
Two 1vs1 fighting collections will also be coming to Nintendo Switch, and the Direct was the best opportunity to make the announcements, the first one is about the “Capcom Fighting Collecting 2” which will include 6 nostalgic arcades for those who could enjoy them at the time and the ones it will include will be: Capcom vs. SNK: Millenium Fight 2000 PRO, Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark Of The Millenium 2001, Project Justice, Alpla Sword 3, Capcom: Fighting Evolution, Plasma Sword, Power Stone and Power Stone 2, its release will be in 2025.
The second collection of fighting video games, and the most awaited by the Nintendo public, will be “MARVEL VS CAPCOM: Arcade Classics”, which is one of the best franchises in history, being officially available digitally on September 12 and the physical versions will be on sale from September 22, 2024.
One of the previews, which was an undeniable visual treat, was that of “Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories and the Imagined Land”, a multiplatform Nintendo Switch video game available for Xbox X|S and One Series, PS4 and PS5, being an RPG by Koei Tecmo, responsible for Ninja Gaiden. This will be the 27th game of the saga and the first since 2022, which will tell the story of Yumia, an alchemist who perfects skills and seeks the truth after a cataclysm that ruined her world that thrived thanks to alchemy, its release will be on March 31, 2025.
Finally, a trio of video games originally released for the Nintendo DS, will be released for the Nintendo Switch in special edition and reimagined “Castlevania: Dominus Collection” which will include: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia, also adding as an extra, Haunted Castle in its original version and in its remaster version with a gallery that will include exclusive art of the game and a music player with the original themes of the video game.
These were the presentations that were given during the Nintendo Direct 2024 + Indie World, being that a good amount of video games were revealed, but mostly remasters and packs of classics very focused for those who enjoy titles of the past on their new consoles.
