The success of the video game gacha The Goddess of Victory: Nikke is undeniable, being that thanks to the large collection of “waifus” that this has in its template gives a lot of options to players to find their favorite girl and with each new update of the game new faces are added to the repertoire, almost always being on everyone’s lips during its presentation, but now the controversy came to Nikke, as it was accused of plagiarizing a renowned Japanese artist in the design of a girl present in the game, even having to apologize for the event.
Nikke is accused of plagiarizing the “waifu” of a Japanese artist
Through different social networks, such as Twitter/X, several players of the free to play gacha-style title The Goddess of Victory: Nikke, commented on how the design of a “waifu” belonging to it is very similar to the original model made by the artist @neco_person, being that within the game the character is presented as an extra and has many similarities with “Samurai”, the artist’s original “waifu”. In most of the comments, users commented on how even details such as hair accessories are very similar to each other.
And all this commotion reached the same @neco_person, who from Twitter/X, made a publication where he mentioned that in a popular video game there was a character very similar to his, being that this, when analyzing the images, came to the conclusion that the composition of each part of both was identical, although it could take it as a simple coincidence, finally that so many details are similar each time you re-inspect the images made the artist feel disappointed and which would have accepted to be at least be recognized for his work.
But this did not end here, as the artist published with the passing of the days a new update on the case, commenting how he received an email from the same developer of The Goddess of Victory: Nikke, first commenting and recognizing the great resemblance between both “waifus”, apologizing to the artist for what would be a plagiarism of his work and second mentioning how they are working to solve this problem and that it does not continue to grow.
Below two images, at the top the “Samurai” design of @neco_person published in 2019 and below the “waifu” of Nikke with which users compare:
As the users of social networks began to publish the different images comparing the girls, their comments were not long in coming, and most of them highlighted the great resemblance between the two, not only for the overall design that could be similar for being a usual theme in the world of artists, but what shows the plagiarism are the details, and something as small as the ribbon on her head or the accessories on the sides of her hair are exactly the same in both girls, something that can not be taken as a simple coincidence. Now we just have to wait and see what the outcome of the problem will be.
The Goddess of Victory: Nikke is a popular gacha-style free-to-play video game that places the player in the role of “Commander”, who will have the important mission of recovering the planet that is under siege by robotic beings known as “Raptures”, who destroy everything in their path, And although this seems a difficult task, at his command he will have a group of artificially created soldiers with many combat skills, but with a feature that makes Nikke so popular, and that is that these are “waifus” with beautiful designs who will do everything possible to help their “Commander”.
