NieR is much more than the amazing 2B or A2 or NieR: Automata, its most iconic title of this huge saga. Square Enix gives us a learning about life, death, love, pain, heroism, sacrifice and empathy. On this occasion, the franchise that has been involved in other entertainment industries such as manga and anime by A-1 Pictures, has decided to launch together with Yoko Taro and the developer an event to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the iconic series and with it a tentative announcement of a fourth installment of NieR.
A confirmed NieR event with Yoko Taro and a tentative sequel on the horizon
Since the last NieR video game collaboration with Stellar Blade which was very successful and where we got to see EVE in the 2B and A2 suits in stylized form at the end of 2024, we haven’t heard from Square Enix’s huge franchise. After its last installment, NieR: Automata managed a too low profile, releasing a few DLCs and glorious collaborations with other titles thanks to its gorgeous protagonist, plus, in recent years, its slightly bumpy animation will be released, adapted in a good way to the game.
Despite the rumors and speculation, Square Enix has been cautious in revealing details about the future of the saga. However, not everything can be kept forever and Yosuke Saito, producer of the series, fueled hopes for a new NieR title because, in addition to reaffirming that there will be an event on April 19, 2025 in honor of the 15th anniversary, he mentioned that the showcase could include “Something from the new game”.
The event will be a live event via the YouTube streaming platform and will last approximately two and a half hours, will feature a live chat with the developers of the trilogy and a spectacular and exquisite musical performance.
The game saga, which began with 2010’s NieR, continued with one of the best video games ever, NieR: Automata in 2017 and ended with NieR: Replicant in 2021. Now a direct sequel to the story of 2B, A2 and 9S may return, as Replicant is a prequel to the events that happened in the second game, so the huge fandom that A2 and 2B accumulated could have them back on screens and at a boosted graphical level.
