New information about the new film of the anime adaptation of the light novel Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) has been shared to the public. Today, the anime series’ official media has confirmed that its second film, titled Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken: Sōkai no Namida-hen (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Blue Sea Arc), will be released in theaters in Japan over the course of February 2026.
This news was released on Bandai Namco Filmworks’ YouTube channel “Isekai Channel” and featured an amazing promotional image for the second Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken anime movie.

However, the production of the new movie was accompanied by another announcement and it was confirmed that the TV anime Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken will have a fourth season.

Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken, also known as That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime in the West, is an isekai light novel that is written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah. The work began publication under Micro Magazine’s GC Novels imprint since May 2014.
The work has a manga adaptation by Taiki Kawakami. It began its publication in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine in March 2015. Some time ago, it was reported that the literary franchise managed to surpass 30 million copies in circulation.
On October 1, 2018, the light novel Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken released its anime adaptation. This adaptation consisted of three seasons, totaling 72 episodes, accompanied by 5 OVAs and a movie. The series was produced by the animation studio 8-Bit, with the direction divided between Yasuhito Kikuchi for the first season and Atsushi Nakayama for the second and third. The series is available legally on the Crunchyroll platform and has an English dub.
The anime Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken has the following description: 37-year-old Satoru Mikami is a typical corporate worker who is perfectly content with his monotonous lifestyle in Tokyo, except for the fact that he has never once gotten a girlfriend in his life. In the middle of a chance encounter with his colleague, he falls victim to a random mugger on the street and is stabbed. However, as he succumbs to his wounds, a peculiar voice echoes in his mind and recites a bunch of orders that the dying man can’t make sense of.
When Satoru regains consciousness, he discovers that he has been reincarnated as a slime slime in an unknown realm. In doing so, he acquires new abilities, especially the power to devour anything and mimic its appearance and abilities. He then encounters the catastrophe-level sealed monster “Storm Dragon” Veldora, who had been locked up for the past 300 years for wiping out a city. Satoru, sympathetic to his plight, befriends him and promises to help him destroy the seal. In return, Veldora grants him the name Rimuru Tempest to grant him divine protection.
Now freed from the mundanities of his past life, Rimuru sets out on a new journey with a clear goal in mind. As he grows accustomed to his new physique, his gooey antics spread throughout the world, gradually altering his destiny.
