Neverness to Everness is the new proposal from Hotta Studio that has surprised waifu enthusiasts and video game fans. Despite the fact that today the market has a large number of video games that try to meet this demand and, if anything, repeat the success of Genshin Impact, one of the first titles to offer an RPG set in an open world fantasy with gacha components where you can choose from a range of elemental characters. But in this case, Neverness to Everness, complements the systems already seen in previous titles, and the 13 minutes of gameplay that has been shared have generated great expectation.
Neverness to Everness presents gameplay
The surprise came last Monday, July 15 from the official accounts of Neverness to Everness on YouTube (@NevernesstoEvernessJP) and Twitter/X (@NTE_GL), where the 13-minute gameplay video showing details of the game was shared. In addition, a dazzling promotional trailer was presented to share a little more about the background of the story, the theme of the game, the setting, the type of music, the roster of characters that will appear in the adventure. This was also accompanied by some excellent action scenes in which we can deduce their elemental powers and a tantalizing date when more information about the new title will be released.
Starting the gameplay, we meet four of the playable characters that we will be able to control in Neverness to Everness. Of which we have information on three so far, starting with Mint, who is a member of the Anomaly Control Unit of the Containment Office 2. She is described as a person with a great knowledge of the places and inhabitants of Hethereau, where the game takes place, and possessing an ability to engage in conversations on almost any topic. Her design, inspired by a cat girl, does not go unnoticed, with details such as a headband decorated with a cat, a small bell on her bow and a bag with cat prints.
Another character we were able to meet in the gameplay is Sakiri, a young girl in charge of errands at the Eibon Antique Shop, who is accompanied by a specter named Kiroumaru. Her childlike personality and cute outfit based on a school uniform, which includes a backpack in the shape of a bear, some curious prints on her red jacket and black cap, a blue bow on the top of her shirt and some curious accessories in her hair, make her one of the most adorable characters in the game. She also has a horn on her forehead that gives us clues about the diversity of races present in the title.
Nanally, is another character to star in the gameplay, who is described as one of the most important characters in the world of Neverness to Everness, as she is considered the main attraction of the Elbon antique store, which belongs to one of the most prestigious families in the Bridge District. In addition, she has participated in crucial missions and special operations in her career as an Anomaly container such as the ‘Danzarborous Revenge’. Her design, where the color pink takes center stage and her clothing based on a school uniform give her a touch of charisma, does not leave aside her cat girl nature, present in various accessories of her outfit.
The interface of Neverness to Everness follows the line of many gacha games optimized for mobile devices, with an intuitive design and optimized for touch screens. We have a life bar at the bottom center of the screen along with the character’s level, in turn at the bottom right you can see the set of skills for each character where the ultimate skill stands out for having a larger icon compared to the others. The character selector is present in the middle right part of the screen where we will be able to interchange between up to four characters per team during our game.
The top of the screen in Neverness to Everness is dominated by a minimap on the left showing us nearby points of interest and a set of menus on the right, including the team selector, mission list, inventory, character interface and system menu. Character animations are of high quality, with fluid movement of clothing, the movement they make when running, when they stop running and unique details for each character when they remain static for a few seconds, which give us more details of both their elemental powers and their personality reflected in their actions.
Similarly, we can see that the character can interact both with various characters, in which in some you can opt for more than one dialogue option present or with objects in the environment, in which a small journal interface appears next to the subject and object in question. It should be noted that the interface changes depending on the various objects with which to interact in the city.
And it is with this that we see one of the most striking aspects that the game has, the vehicles, which are not only decorative, but you can interact with them and drive them all over the map, which offers us Neverness to Everness, which has more than one surprise for players.
Neverness to Everness is distinguished by its urban setting, an open world that invites us to explore a large city full of life. Unlike the typical gacha fantasy or science fiction games, this RPG aims to imitate reality more faithfully, offering an immersive experience where we can perform various activities typical of the cities. The game’s trailer shows us some of these systems that make us feel like real citizens: driving through the streets, buying property and interacting with the city’s inhabitants. Undoubtedly, Neverness to Everness promises a unique experience within the gacha genre.
Neverness to Everness not only allows us to drive around the city, but also offers us a complete customization system for our vehicles, as we can modify various parts of our car and paint it to our liking. When entering driving mode, the interface adapts to offer an intuitive driving experience with a speed indicator at the bottom right, while a radio at the top middle allows us to enjoy music during the trip. The game also incorporates a destruction system, as if we crash our vehicle into objects such as lampposts, they will be affected by the impact, creating a dynamic and reactive environment.
A fundamental element of Neverness to Everness is the possibility of buying properties in a real estate management where we can find a wide variety of objects. The most interesting thing is that the properties are not just a place to live, but are part of the open world of the game, as we can go out to the terrace of our apartment and jump to return to the streets of the city without the need to use the traditional exits. In addition, the game features day and night cycles, which adds a touch of realism to the experience and allows us to enjoy our properties at different times of the day.
The combat seen in Neverness to Everness is a dynamic real-time combat in which we can use various characters, each with unique abilities associated with a certain element and class, including the ultimate ability, which when activated presents us with a unique animation. Similarly, there is the possibility of making combos between the characters of the same team, because after making a series of attacks and changing characters, the one who enters into combat can concatenate the next attack giving a dynamic and colorful choreography accompanied by considerable damage against the enemy.
Neverness to Everness immerses us in an enigmatic story full of mystery, as the city hides a dark secret that alters the reality of its inhabitants, manifesting itself in the form of anomalies and enemies with the appearance of everyday objects such as vending machines that our protagonist cast has to hunt down. The narrative is tinged with dyes of terror at times, with a palette of dark and reddish colors that accentuates the tension accompanied by a solid sound and music design. In addition, the game plays with the abstract, mixing environments and situations to create a dreamlike atmosphere that furthers the enigma of the plot.
To end the gameplay, we find a unique dynamic: a motorized specter runs through the streets leaving blue spectral flames in its wake. This event could be random or part of the game’s story, and undoubtedly adds a touch of action and mystery to the experience. The video concludes with a date: September 2024.
