Voice actors Yusuke Kobayashi, known for playing Subaru Natsuki in Re:Zero Starting Life in Another World, and Yumi Uchiyama, who plays Pack in the same series, recently announced their marriage. Although this news has no direct relation to the plot development of the popular animated adaptation, fans have found a golden opportunity to flood social networks with memes, witty comments about Pack’s triumphant victory over Emilia and Rem.

For years, Re:Zero fans have debated extensively over whether Subaru should stay with Emilia or Rem, expounding even theses that highlight the positive qualities of each of the two girls and why she is the perfect match for the series’ protagonist. However, this recent news takes an unexpected turn, as Pack takes the win in a rather unexpected way for all fans of the series.
The Re:Zero community has not hesitated to compare the situation to the famous SpongeBob meme, where a race culminates with a rock as the winner. In this case, the little feline spirit Pack surprises everyone and claims Subaru’s heart, at least in real life.
Comments such as “Subaru went furroooooo”, “I mean, Subaru’s route and that cat is canon”, and “Pack is a woman and a cute one, Subaru what a beau, is there anything this guy doesn’t do well?” are just some examples of the comments we can see in social networks. Among other comments we can find:

Among these alternative stories, one of the most viral stands out, in which Subaru chooses to escape at the beginning of the plot together with Rem to lead a peaceful life, away from the conflicts and the constant wave of death.
