Through a post on the official Twitter account of Harta magazine, owned by Kadokawa, it was revealed the sad news that the mangaka Nami Sano passed away on August 5 due to complications with cancer. Despite having a short life, Sano left an indelible mark in the hearts of her followers at only 36 years of age and captivated millions of fans with unique stories.

According to the announcement, Nami Sano‘s illness was detected only a month before her death, a shocking revelation that shows how quickly her condition progressed in just a few days. Despite facing this adversity, the creator continued to work on the outline of a new manga, showing her passion and commitment to the art until her last days.
The editors of Kadokawa‘s Harta magazine shared an extract from the last letter written by Nami Sano, which read: “It turned out to be a fun life. Now I’m heading for a freer world. Goodbye.” This emotional farewell shows the strong and resilient character that the mangaka had, demonstrating how proud and happy she was for all the achievements she made in life.
Nami Sano‘s career launched with her manga “Haven’t You Heard? I’m Sakamoto,” which began serializing in Harta in 2011 and reached its conclusion in December 2015. After that, Sano introduced us to “Migi & Dali,” another manga that launched in Harta in July 2017 and culminated in November 2021.
Despite its recent completion and the death of its creator, the manga “Migi & Dali” has already inspired an anime adaptation to be released in October of this year.
