In the amazing world of One Piece, one of the most popular characters is Nami, the beautiful red-haired sailor from the crew of the Straw Hat Pirates. She is one of the most important and iconic female characters in the entire shonen manga genre and, as you might expect, is the favorite “waifu” of many fans. Because of this, the internet is overflowing with Nami art, illustrations, cosplays and all sorts of other Nami content. And these new illustrations caught the attention of many.

In the current arc of the manga, Monkey D. Luffy’s crew arrived at Egghead, the Island of the Future and the home of the famous Doctor Vegapunk. As is tradition in this series, all the Straw Hat pirates changed their outfits to better fit in this particular place. But One Piece fans were in for a surprise when they saw Nami’s new outfit, as we can now see her wearing a sleeveless sweater with high boots and headphones on her head. That’s right, Nami isn’t wearing pants or anything like that, which doesn’t leave much to the imagination. This is a classic fanservice moment, characteristic of the author, Eiichiro Oda.
Nami’s new Egghead outfit became very popular among One Piece fans, which led the Instagram account known as mysmartarts to post these interesting illustrations of a hyper-realistic version of Nami, similar to a cosplay. We can see that the character’s most striking features were represented quite faithfully: her orange hair, her tight white outfit and her lack of pants. The Straw Hat pirates’ sailor looks really beautiful and the account’s followers have expressed their satisfaction with this collection of images.
As if it wasn’t obvious already, these images were generated with Artificial Intelligence. With that in mind, they look surprisingly good and do a good job of illustrating what an actual cosplay of Nami in the Egghead arc would look like. However, the use of this technology led to these illustrations being full of inconsistencies that some Instagram users were quick to point out: Like that in some images, Nami has more than 6 fingers, or that the background seems to be Venice instead of Egghead Island. This proves that there is no artistic merit in using Artificial Intelligences to create content like this.
One Piece continues its legacy as one of the longest running manga in all of history. The Egghead arc marks the beginning of the Final Saga of this story, which is exciting the entire anime & manga community.
