There is no doubt that “My Hero Academia” (Boku no Hero Academia) is one of the most important manga and anime of recent years, its importance is such that it was one of the pioneering works in massively popularizing the medium among entertainment fans who were alien to it. Its adaptation has been by far the one that has taken the spotlight the most, but this time the manga with the most recent chapter has given much to talk about and obviously controversies have also arisen with it.
Some fans of “My Hero Academia” are not very happy with the development or rather the “little development” that is being given to the characters and this is being reflected in social networks, forums and many comments from fans of the series as in this new controversy that we will see below. WARNING, this note contains spoilers of the latest installment of the manga.
Fans are upset that the author of My Hero Academia doesn’t make his protagonist suffer
As many will remember, episode 419 of “My Hero Academia” (Boku no Hero Academia) caused a lot of commotion in social networks because it showed us how Midoriya “Deku” was badly injured and without 2 of his limbs during the battle with Shigaraki due to his quirk. This evidently made fans panic and think that this arc would not have a happy ending for the protagonist. Fortunately or unfortunately depending on which side you’re on this issue, thanks to the leaks, chapter 420 of the manga shows us that Deku has recovered his arms in a “miraculous” way.
Without going into any more spoilers about how Deku gets his arms back than he evidently already is, My Hero Academia fans are extremely upset about the author’s lukewarm approach to character development. Most of them have expressed their dissatisfaction through several posts on Facebook in the “My Hero Academia” groups where they criticize this “sketchy” script. Not only this, but they also remember how Bakugo’s return was given where there was simply little or no explanation as to why it happened.
Others have expressed that Kōhei Horikoshi author of “My Hero Academia” (Boku no Hero Academia) is creating one of the worst protagonists of the manga, since he does not make him “suffer” so this (Deku) will not have the development that a “plot credible” work needs for its protagonist. Other users have also celebrated that they abandoned the manga a long time ago, since it is a story that they have catalogued as “decadent”. Finally, there was also another sector that was grateful that the protagonist did not have such a cruel ending as the one shown in the previous chapter.
For those who have not seen or read “My Hero Academia“, the story tells us how 80 percent of the population has developed mysterious and strange abilities called “singularities”. Naturally, thanks to these abilities some of them have used their skills to do evil, so it has formed a kind of struggle of heroes and villains. Thus we will meet Izuku Midoriya a boy who is part of the small population that does not possess abilities.
Sooner rather than later, Midoriya will meet an ancient hero who will offer him the opportunity to possess these incredible abilities that he has watched in awe for a long time. This is how she will become part of the students of the UA academy whose mission is to protect the city and its inhabitants while dealing with the threats that haunt it.
