With the release of the last volume of the successful shonen manga My Hero Academia (Boku no Hero Academia) in Japan, fans of the franchise have been wondering what Kouhei Horikoshi (author of the work) will do after the conclusion of the main story of this manga so often followed in recent years.
It seems that the intention of the author of My Hero Academia is to continue working on the franchise with the spin-off manga that are still in publication, but the possibility of working on a new project is present, or so he demonstrated in a recent collaboration with Marvel.
The author of My Hero Academia to return with a new manga
As we have previously mentioned, Kouhei Horikoshi’s intention to work on a new manga was made known in a recent collaboration between the My Hero Academia author and the renowned American comic book publisher, Marvel.
In a recent statement, Horikoshi revealed that he initially planned to focus exclusively on the illustrations for his next project, delegating the writing of the story to someone else. However, his editor suggested that he take on both roles personally.
With this in mind, the creator of My Hero Academia started working on the preliminary sketches of his new manga. Even so, he mentioned that there are still several important events related to My Hero Academia, so for now, his main focus will be to support and promote the franchise. Let’s remember that the latest volume of the My Hero Academia manga was released in Japan this December 4. This volume had 38 additional pages, which were focused on telling more details at the end of the work and thus, promote the release of this volume.

My Hero Academia, also known as Boku no Hero Academia in Japan, is an action shonen manga that is written and illustrated by Kouhei Horikoshi. The work made its debut in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in July 2014 and reached its conclusion last August 4 this year.
In addition, Shueisha Publishing has collected Kouhei Horikoshi’s manga into 42 volumes in total. Thanks to the excellent reception of the public, the manga My Hero Academia was adapted into an anime.
The respective anime adaptation of the manga “My Hero Academia” premiered on television in Japan on April 3, 2016 and throughout these years has gained an incredible acceptance by the public, to the point of gaining an incredible repercussion worldwide. This anime adaptation consists of seven seasons, totaling 159 episodes, 4 movies and 4 OVAs.

Boku no Hero Academia announced its Final Season for 2025
On October 12 of this year, the official media for the anime adaptation of the manga My Hero Academia (Boku no Hero Academia) announced the production of its eighth season. This new installment of the series will be titled “My Hero Academia: Final Season” and is scheduled to premiere in the course of the year 2025.
The anime My Hero Academia has the following description: The story introduces us to a universe where superpowers, known as “quirks,” are part of everyday life. In this world, approximately 80% of the population has developed special abilities, leading to the emergence of heroes and villains who fight for balance and justice.
The plot centers on Izuku Midoriya, a passionate young man and admirer of heroes, but who, unfortunately, was born without a quirk. Despite this apparent disadvantage, Izuku dreams of becoming a hero and protecting others. His life takes a radical turn when he encounters the legendary hero All Might, possessor of the most powerful quirk of all.
Touched by Izuku’s determination and indomitable spirit, All Might decides to pass on his power to him, making the young man his apprentice and giving him the opportunity to attend the prestigious U.A. High School, an academy dedicated to training future heroes.
Throughout the series, we follow Izuku and his classmates as they confront dangerous villains, overcome personal challenges and discover the true meaning of being a hero.
