Monogatari Series is back with new anime
As some may recall, Aniplex’s official media have kept the otaku community on their toes with their updates announcing the production of a new anime project. This announcement was accompanied at the time with images of some lyrics, something that has left otaku wondering about the possible theme of this curious project.
It’s been a few days since Aniplex’s Twitter/X account started this theme, and finally, today it was revealed that the Monogatari Series franchise is involved.
Monogatari Series: Off Season & Monster Season to be made into an anime
With the opening of the official website for the new anime project of the anime series “Monogatari Series“, it was announced that the books “Off Season” and “Monster Season” will have their own anime adaptation, which will be produced by the renowned animation studio SHAFT. Along with this announcement, a teaser video for these new “Monogatari Series” anime projects has also been shared and their premiere was confirmed for 2024.
But that’s not all, as the official website of “Monogatari Series: Off Season & Monster Season” has unveiled a stunning visual that will feature characters Mayoi Hachikuji, Suruga Kanbaru, Yotsugi Ononoki, Tsukihi Araragi and Nadeko Sengoku as the main characters in it.
It is worth mentioning that “Off Season” is a collection of parallel stories that will feature different characters. In addition, this covers the arcs: Orokamonogatari, Wazamonogatari, Nademonogatari and Musubimonogatari.
On the other hand, “Monster Season” tells the story of the university life of the character Koyomi Araragi in six arcs: Shinobumonogatari, Yoimonogatari, Amarimonogatari, Ugimonogatari and Shinomonogatari.
Along with this round of news, the production team involved in the anime “Monogatari Series: Off Season & Monster Season” was also introduced:
The anime will be under the main direction of Akiyuki Simbo, while specific direction will be handled by Midori Yoshizawa. Production of the anime will be handled by renowned animation studio SHAFT. Akio Watanabe will serve as character designer and lead animation director. In addition, Simbo and Fuyashi Tou will be in charge of supervising the anime’s scripts.
“Monogatari Series” is a fascinating and unique franchise distinguished by its intricate storytelling, complex characters and stylized visual presentation. Created by prolific writer Nisio Isin and illustrated by renowned character designer VOFAN. The franchise dives into a world where the supernatural and the everyday converge in extraordinary ways.
The plot follows Koyomi Araragi, a high school student who finds himself involved in various encounters with supernatural creatures, curses and extraordinary beings. One day, a classmate named Hitagi Senjougahara, who never talks to anyone, falls from a tall ladder into Koyomi’s arms. He discovers that Hitagi weighs almost nothing, a physical contradiction.
Despite being threatened by her, Araragi offers his help and introduces him to Meme Oshino, an eccentric middle-aged man living in an abandoned building who helped him stop being a vampire. As the story progresses, the characters’ dark mysteries and complicated pasts are revealed, interwoven with witty dialogue and a non-linear narrative that defies convention.
