Just 4 months ago, Minecraft was already 15 years old when it was launched by the Scandinavian company Mojang Studios founded by Markus Persson and Jens Bergensten, which a few years later would be bought by Microsoft Studios and thus become one of the top, most popular and best-selling video games of all time. Currently, it is already a great franchise that has several “spin-offs” and after having years and years with rumors of a live-action movie, in the past hours was published the official trailer of the movie “A Minecraft Movie” to be released on April 4, 2025.

In recent hours, the popular video game Minecraft surprised all fans with the arrival of the long-awaited trailer of its animated adaptation, which since it was announced came with a halo of mystery for players to understand how it was going to get to represent the title on the big screen. And with the release of this first trailer, some of those questions have been answered where we can see the “cubic” world of Mojang’s game recreated, plus this video gave a first glimpse of our protagonists, including some very important Hollywood names.
In this trailer we see a lot of references to Minecraft, being one of the most representative in the same world of the game that respects much the look in “cubes” so characteristic and that we can see both in the environment and in the secondary characters or animals. We can also appreciate a good amount of references, as expected, to the playable aspect of Minecraft, such as the collection of resources or the manufacture of objects, which did not go unnoticed by the most veteran players.
And as we mentioned, one of the most important points is the cast of protagonists, where we can observe Jason Momoa, who played the main role of Arthur Curry (Aquaman), being the Minecraft movie an opportunity to make a name for himself among the children audience. But the one who already has a well-established place with this type of audience is Jack Black, who was assigned a huge responsibility: the role of Steve, that is, the main character, although he already had a similar role with a video game character: Bowser in Super Mario Bros: The Movie.
Since its release in 2009, the video game has won, with many merits, the love of hundreds of thousands of players. And the new ideas brought since 2020 to date, such as Dungeons or Legends, have not been bad, but they have not received the excellent marks from specialized critics that the original game received at the time. That is why the release of a movie came as more than interesting news for fans. “A Minecraft Movie” will be produced by Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, which already has a release date scheduled for April 4, 2025.
