McDonald’s reportedly suspended an artist’s account for this image of his “waifu”.

McDonald’s is one of the largest multinational companies in the world, which is why it is not surprising the amount of ads that it generates, being that many times being in many countries gives free rein for advertising based on the culture of different regions are created, Japan was the last country that surprised with one of these campaigns, as several anime-style animations were launched in recent months, giving free rein to many artists to create their own versions with these new “waifus“, but now, one of these content creators was suspended in one of his accounts for copyright infringement.

This image of McDonald’s waifu led to the suspension of an artist’s account.

The renowned Filipino artist @hews__ announced a few days ago through his social network Twitter as one of his accounts, where he was dedicated to publish all kinds of works, was suspended after a complaint for violating the Terms of Use and Directives of that platform, being that the most weighty reason that is believed because this happened was for a publication that has as protagonist the recent “waifu” that the fast food chain McDonald’s presented in a series of animations and that would infringe the copyrights coming from the same company.

Although no official confirmation was given as to why the account was suspended, the main problem that was commented by other users who came across the publication is that much of the content of the image, and the fact that a new version of the “waifu” was created, including a “spicier” than normal is not what led to the suspension, but what gave rise to McDonald’s can appeal to the creator to infringe intellectual property was the fact that this placed an image on one side of the original work, where, among other things, the company logo is in sight.

Below is the official email that @hews__ received, where it is made clear that his account is suspended for infringing the “Terms of Use and Guidelines” of the platform:

For his part, the same creator and protagonist of this event commented his feelings about the fact, first accepting the fact that his account was suspended, explaining how part of the blame was surely his own and giving his point of view where he believes that it was McDonald’s itself who appealed for his account to be suspended. On the other hand, he was somewhat indifferent to the situation, since the platform where he was suspended was not widely used by him, but what he did regret is how much of his early work was there. A few days after the fact, the creator still did not confirm if his account was recovered or if it is a lost case.

McDonald’s with the publication of this work, which consisted of a small animation of a family enjoying a meal with different menus available in this fast food chain, managed to create one of the ads that had more impact in the world, not only for the great work done by the original artist, but it gave rise to many discussions, from those who talked about the animation itself, to the problem of the low birth rate in Japan or how unhealthy fast food is, but it did manage to increase the popularity of McDonald’s, leading to several ads with the same theme to be launched over time.
