The world of anime always gives a lot to talk about, and now a news has caught the attention of the otaku community, it is about Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines! (Make Heroine ga Oosugiru!). According to information, the anime based on the light novel of the same name, has surpassed 5,000 copies sold per Blu-ray volume. This figure has been highlighted by several specialized media and anime fans, who reported that they consider the commercial performance of the series to be an impressive achievement.
Blu-ray sales of Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines reaches 5,000 copies per volume
Since its premiere, Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines has been an anime that has undoubtedly generated notable interest, both for its peculiar story and its characters. This allowed the series to quickly gain a following and be recognized for its mix of comedy and drama, elements that attracted a diverse audience worldwide. However, what has drawn even more attention is its performance in the Blu-ray market, where information has circulated that it has managed to surpass sales of 5,000 copies per volume.
The news was initially reported by different media outlets, who were quick to publicize the news, which then spread to forums such as Reddit and social platforms such as Facebook, where many fans applauded the commercial success of the series. And the fact is that, according to the claims, this achievement would place Makeine in an exclusive category, an achievement rarely achieved by other anime, even by those with a bigger budget or more followers.
However, upon researching official sales figures from reliable sources such as Oricon, the reality appears to be somewhat different. Oricon, the leading sales rating system in Japan, has reported that the first Blu-ray volume of Makeine would sell around 4,564. And while it is unknown how much most of its volumes have actually sold, and since in its first week the first volume sold a high figure, it may average 5,000 copies sold per volume.
Also, compared to other popular anime of the season, selling more than 5,000 copies is a solid, but not exceptional performance, as series such as Re:Zero or The Apothecary Diaries have reached and surpassed the 5,000 copies per volume barrier, being examples of series that have greater brand recognition or a broader fan base.
Although Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines has performed impressively in terms of Blu-ray sales, the claim that it has surpassed 5,000 copies by volume is not supported by the official data available, sales are good, but it is not yet known if the figures initially mentioned. This reminds us of the importance of verifying sources before accepting rumors or headlines that may be misinterpreted.
The Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines series has released several volumes in Blu-ray format, for example, Volume 1 was released on September 25, 2024, with a retail price of ¥8,000 (approximately $54 USD), Volume 3 was released on November 27, 2024, with a price of ¥7,000 (approximately $47 USD). In addition, Volume 6 recently had its release on February 26, 2025, with prices ranging from ¥7,000 (approximately $47 USD) to ¥6,000 (approximately $41 USD), depending on the edition.
