Shortly after the broadcasting of its last episode, we had the release of the Blu-ray/DVD that surprised the followers of this series with the favorable sales results in its first week on the market. Now it was revealed how much the profits obtained by this media were, thrilling the fans for the millionaire amount collected by Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete.
Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete amazes with Blu-ray/DVD sales
Through Twitter/X the Nakayasee account shared the news that volume 1 of the Blu-ray/DVD of Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete had managed to sell 8,114 copies in its first week, this figure considers both the standard edition and the special edition. This fact caused astonishment among the anime’s fans, emotion that they expressed through comments such as 3,000 copies was the minimum amount that would have to be reached to be considered a success. Considering the sales of Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete, although we could not say that it had an exponential result, it could be considered a triumph in this category.
Another person remarked that, in general, the franchise was having quite a lot of recognition, since if the Blu-ray/DVD versions were selling well, having a high cost, surely the rest of the merchandise, would sell very easily. It was also questioned whether Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete’s achievement with these items would spur the announcement of a second season. And this is interesting because, in fact, with Blu-ray/DVDs being very popular in Japan, the level of their sales does tend to be a factor considered important by producers when deciding to renew series for another season.

Something that was also surprising was that Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete has sold more copies than such acclaimed stories as Chainsaw Man, and the controversy caused by the sales of the Blu-ray/DVD of this franchise is a well-known topic within the anime community.
The standard version of this Blu-ray/DVD was priced at $80.14 and includes: the disc with the anime, bonus material and as a gift, an A3 size poster, while the special version priced at $261.21, in addition to the above mentioned, includes a 1/7 scale figure of Utena Hiiragi, the main character of this story. Many fans of Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete are excited about this item, as additional material is included and they are looking forward to seeing it.
The story of Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete, tells us about Utena Hiiragi, a shy girl who greatly admires magical girls, specifically the trio called Three Magic, who protect the town where Utena lives. One day, something unexpected for her happens and a pet called Venalita approaches her giving her the powers she always wished for, only not in the way she expected, since, instead of becoming a heroine like those she admires, she ends up being the general of an evil organization called Enormita. And although she now has to face these magical girls, Utena realizes that tormenting them has become something she enjoys.
