The year 2025 has begun and the respective official media for the anime adaptation of the manga Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete (Gushing over Magical Girls) has decided to commemorate this festive date in a big way with the fans of this series that has been so popular in the otaku community.
Through the official X account of the anime Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete, a curious visual image has been shared featuring the characters Hiiragi Utena and Kiwi Araga. In addition, the publication wished fans a Happy New Year, thanking them for their constant support in the last year, and announced that a marathon of the series will be held on the Niconico platform.

Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete, also known as Gushing Over Magical Girls in the West, is a comedy and mahou shoujo manga that is written and illustrated by Akihiro Ononaka. The work began its publication in the “Storia Dash” service of the Takeshobo publishing house since March 2019 and currently, the manga is still in publication and has been collected by the “Takeshobo” publishing house in 11 volumes.
Thanks to the good reception of the public towards Akihiro Ononaka’s manga, in March 2023, it was announced the production of an anime series adaptation for Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete.

In October of this year, the official media of the anime adaptation of the manga Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete (Gushing over Magical Girls) announced the production of a second season. However, this news was not accompanied by a possible premiere date, so fans will have to wait for further updates.
The anime Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete has the following description: A team of three magical girls known as Three Magic protects the city where Utena Hiiragi lives. Like many others, Utena adores these magical girls who fight bravely in the name of justice. One day, a mysterious black character appears before Utena and grants her the opportunity of a lifetime: the chance to transform into a magical girl.
However, the offer is not what it seems, as Utena has been recruited by an evil organization to fight against the magical girls she has always admired. Utena is forced to face Three Magic in combat, but instead of feeling remorse, she unexpectedly finds pleasure in inflicting pain on the magical girls. Giving in completely to her desires, Utena adopts her role as a villain, gradually transforming her adoration for the magical girls into a new sadistic obsession.
