Konosuba! waifus star in new artwork for new OVA

New updates on the new OVA of the anime adaptation of the light novel KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! (Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!) have been released to the public. However, these updates are not about its upcoming arrival in Japanese cinemas or new screenings, but about the Blu-Ray/DVD format of the OVA for the third season of the anime Konosuba!

That’s why, to promote the upcoming Blu-ray/DVD release, the production committee of the series has shared a series of illustrations featuring the characters Kazuma Satou, Aqua, Megumin, Darkness and Yunyun, showing them in different situations. It should be noted that these illustrations will be used to create different products that will be given as a benefit for the purchase/reservation of this Blu-Ray/DVD volume in selected shops in Japan.

According to the information presented on the official website for the anime adaptation of the light novel Konosuba!, the Blu-Ray/DVD volume of the new OVA of the series is scheduled for release in Japan on 25 April 2025, with a pre-sale scheduled for 14 March.

The volume will contain the 2 episodes that make up the OVA and the Blu-Ray version will be available at a price of 7,700 yen, while the DVD version will cost 6,600 yen. However, that’s not all, as the official cover of this Blu-Ray/DVD volume has also been unveiled. As a reminder, ‘Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! 3 BONUS STAGE’ is scheduled to be released in Japanese cinemas on March 14th, 2025.

Information about Konosuba!

Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!, abbreviated as Konosuba!, is an isekai light novel written by Natsume Akatsuki, with illustrations by Kurone Mishima. This fascinating light novel began publication under Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint of Kadokawa Publishing House on 1 October 2013, and concluded its exciting journey on 1 May 2020. During this time, Kadokawa published a total of 17 volumes, consolidating the narrative of this captivating world.

The story also has a manga adaptation, illustrated by illustrator Masahito Watari. The manga first appeared in the pages of Monthly Dragon Age magazine, under the editorial wing of Fujimi Shobo, starting in September 2014. The literary franchise managed to surpass 10 million copies in circulation and thanks to the good reception of the public, the work had its respective anime adaptation.

On 13 January 2016, the light novel Konosuba! premiered its anime adaptation, which consists of three seasons (31 episodes in total), a movie and two OVAs. The animation studio Studio Deen produced the first two seasons of the series; however, the third season was produced by the studio DRIVE. The series is available legally on the Crunchyroll platform and is dubbed in English.

The anime Konosuba! has the following description: After suffering a laughably pathetic death after returning from buying a game, high school student and recluse Kazuma Satou finds himself sitting before a beautiful but hateful goddess named Aqua.

She gives the NEET two choices: continue on to heaven or be reincarnated in every gamer’s dream: a real fantasy world! Kazuma decides to start a new life and is quickly tasked with defeating a Demon King who is terrorising the villages. But before he sets off, he can choose an object of any kind to aid him in his mission, and the hero-to-be chooses Aqua. But Kazuma has made a grave mistake: Aqua is completely useless!

Unfortunately, his problems don’t end there; it turns out that living in such a world is very different from how it plays out in a game. Instead of embarking on an exciting adventure, the duo must work to pay for their expenses. Their misfortunes have only just begun.
