KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! (Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!) is undoubtedly one of the most representative works in the world of anime, being that its importance within the isekai genre has made it one of the most named when it comes to this genre. But as you can see, the striking style of the anime differs quite a lot from what was originally seen in the light novels, especially this can be noticed in the characters.

One of the anime that premiered relatively recently is Kaiju No.8, which brought us an exciting story full of giant monsters that delighted fans of this genre, but at the time generated a controversy with readers of the original manga. And the manga adaptation of Kaiju No.8 was quite different from what was originally seen, so much so that many decided not to watch the anime because of this big change in the style of illustration, claiming that much of what was known of the manga of the work was lost.

Another great series released not long ago is Bocchi The Rock!, which tells the story of a young girl who is very gifted in music, but socially lacks any kind of ability to communicate, although everything changes when she becomes part of a band with her new friends. This work was very much loved since its original manga version, but it seems that it underwent several changes once it was adapted to anime.

Even at the time, one of the strongest “controversies” within the community of Bocchi The Rock! had to do with the design of the characters, especially the protagonist, where in the anime she looked much less “voluptuous” than she really was, generating all kinds of debates in the networks.

Aku no Hana

Undoubtedly, the case of Aku no Hana is one of the most talked about within the anime community in general, since the abrupt change between what was seen in the original manga series, differs greatly from what ended up being adapted in the 2013 anime. This anime version divided the community at the time, from those who felt comfortable with this type of animation, while others saw it as disrespectful to the original work of Shūzō Oshimi.

Last but not least, let’s touch on The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses, an anime released in the year 2023 and that in this case, although it differs quite a bit from what was seen in the manga, it suffered a noticeable increase in quality, so much so that even the readers were happy with this change. Most of these improvements, as you can see, were both in the environments and mainly in the characters, with a very different style, but with the highest possible quality, which gave a new air to a work very dear to its fans.

These were some examples of works which drastically changed their style when they were adapted to anime, with a variety ranging from those that are very colorful and leave the animated version well to those that are not. Now we ask you, what other anime could be included in this list?
