Komi-san wa, Komyushou desu has come to an end.

As we had been anticipating some time ago, the romantic comedy manga Komi-san wa, Komyushou desu (Komi Can’t Communicate) was getting ready to end its publication in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine. This news surprised the fans of the franchise and at that time it was confirmed that the work would end in 3 chapters, something that was confirmed by Tomohito Oda, author of the manga.

Something important to remember is that, although the manga Komi-san wa, Komyushou desu ended its publication in the Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine, chapter 499 will not be the last episode of Tomohito Oda’s work, and a few days ago it was reported that the last compilation volume of the manga will bring a special surprise, and it will include a new episode, so the manga will have a total of 500 episodes.

Another detail to note is that the 37th compilation volume of the manga Komi-san wa, Komyushou desu will be released for sale in bookstores and stores in Japan on March 18, 2025, a date that may suffer some modification if something happens.

Komi-san wa, Komyushou desu, also known as “Komi Can’t Communicate” in the West, is a romantic comedy manga written and illustrated by Tomohito Oda. The manga started as a One-Shot in the magazine “Weekly Shonen Sunday” of Shogakukan Publishing House in September 2015 and began serializing in the month of May 2016.

Due to its immense popularity in the otaku community, in May 2021 the production of an anime adaptation was announced, thus fulfilling the wish of many fans that the Komi-san wa Komyushou desu manga will have its respective anime adaptation

On October 7, 2021, the manga Komi-san wa Komyushou desu premiered its anime adaptation which was composed of 2 seasons (24 episodes in total). The animation studio OLM was in charge of the production of the series under the direction of Kazuki Kawagoe and Ayumu Watanabe. The series is available legally through the Netflix platform and has an English dub.

The manga Komi-san wa, Komyushou desu has the following description: Hitohito Tadano is an ordinary boy heading to his first day of high school with a clear plan: avoid trouble and do his best to blend in. Unfortunately, he fails immediately when he takes the seat next to the school madonna, Shouko Komi. His classmates now recognize him as someone to eliminate for the chance to sit next to the prettiest girl in the class.

Gorgeous and elegant, with long dark hair, Komi is universally adored and immensely popular despite her mysterious personality. Unbeknownst to anyone, however, she suffers from an atrocious anxiety and communication disorder that prevent her from relating wholeheartedly to her classmates.

When she is left alone in class, a chain of events forces Komi to interact with Tadano by writing on the blackboard, as in a one-way conversation. Being the first to realize that she cannot communicate properly, Tadano picks up the chalk and begins to write as well. In the end he discovers that Komi’s goal is to make a hundred friends during her stay in high school. To that end, he decides to lend her a hand, thus becoming her first friend.
