The release of the 37th compilation volume of the popular romantic comedy manga Komi-san wa, Komyushou desu (Komi Can’t Communicate) marked the official closure of the story created by Tomohito Oda. Prior to its publication, it had already been announced that this volume would include an additional chapter, considered by all as the “final episode” of the manga.
However, the arrival of this volume has awakened the enthusiasm of fans, who are now speculating about a possible “continuation” of the work. This optimism stems from the table of contents of volume 37, where the 500th episode is titled “I am a college student” (大学生です), which has raised expectations about the work.
Fans of the manga Komi-san wa, Komyushou desu are excited about the title of the final chapter of the work, as many believe that a spin-off showing Shouko Komi’s college life could be interesting. However, it is necessary to put cold cloths to the fans’ desire to see more of Komi-san’s life, since the author specified that he is not thinking of continuing to work for the moment and wants to focus on raising his son.
For the moment it is correct to say that the illusion of the fans of Komi-san wa, Komyushou desu comes more from their own desire than the idea of Tomohito Oda, who a few days ago joked with the fans with the idea of a spin-off where Komi-san became a “Master of communication”, something that only served to draw the attention of the public, promote the release of the 37th volume of his manga and, in a way, show a new version of Komi Shouko.
Whether the manga receives a spin-off or a continuation only Tomohito Oda will know and for now it is only known that Komi-san wa, Komyushou desu has reached its end.
