At the Kyoto Animation studio’s Kyoto Animation 2025 Lineup Presentation program, the anime adaptation of the manga Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon (Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid) made an appearance and at this special event it was announced that a movie for the series will be produced and released in theaters in Japan during the year 2025.
However, that’s not all, as in the respective official media of the TV anime Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon it was confirmed that the movie will be titled Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon: Samishigariya no Ryuu (A Lonely Dragon Wants to be Loved) and a teaser image and video for the film, which will feature the adorable Kanna Kamui, has been presented.

Additionally, the official website of the anime Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon has presented the first details of the production team involved in the film: Tatsuya Ishihara will be back to direct the film. Renowned animation studio Kyoto Animation will be in charge of the film’s production. In addition, voice actresses Maria Nanagawa, Mutsumi Tamura and Yuuki Kuwahara will return to play the characters Kanna Kamui, Tohru and Kobayashi-san.

“Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon”, also known as ‘Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid’ in the West, is a fantasy slice of life manga that began its serialization in the Gekkan Action magazine belonging to the Futabasha publishing house as of May 2013. The work is written and illustrated by the mangaka Cool-kyou Shinja, who has worked on other manga such as Heion Sedai no Idaten-tachi and Komori-san wa Kotowarenai!
Thanks to the good reception of the public with the manga Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid, in May 2016 it was announced the production of an anime adaptation for the work. The series began broadcasting in Japan on January 11, 2017 and consisted of a total of 2 exciting seasons, with a total of 25 episodes and 2 OVAs.
The animation studio Kyoto Animation and the direction of the first season was in charge of Yasuhiro Takemoto, while in the second season Tatsuya Ishihara took the reins. The series is available legally on the Crunchyroll platform and has an English dub.
