To give context first we must know the history of this anime, being that the first thing to know is that it is not a series like the ones we are used to see every season, this work is rather a Japanese anime-style film with a duration of 60 minutes.

It was released in 2008 and classified as animation for a much more mature audience, years later it got a second installment of a new film. Kite Liberator is the sequel to Kite, and this second film tells us a story that moves forward ten years after the events of the original film, in this one we see Kōichi Doi, a researcher at Defy Foods, boarding the International Space Station. Doi had been researching methods to preserve bone mass in zero gravity. After widowed father Orudo Noguchi and another crew member are later found to be exposed to space radiation and ordered to discontinue the missions, Noguchi asks Doi to deliver a package to his daughter Monaka, whom he hasn’t seen in four years, for her birthday.
