Undoubtedly, “Kakegurui” is one of those works that has attracted the attention of more than one anime fan, either for its drama and gambling storyline, or for the great attractiveness and peculiar personality of its protagonist Yumeko Jabami. Once again, the successful manga saga about gambling and drama has once again stolen the attention of fans with a surprise announcement to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the franchise.
Kakegurui announces a full color page to celebrate its anniversary!
The official media of the publisher “Square Enix” has informed fans that the manga written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Toru Naomura called “Kakegurui“, on the occasion of celebrating its tenth anniversary of serialization, will have a full color page that will be available in the upcoming August issue of the magazine “Gangan Joker“.
It is also reported that this color page will also be available in the volume number 18 of the manga “Kakegurui” which will be released very soon and whose cover image has already been announced. In this one we can appreciate the main character Yumeko Jabami wearing a yukata in red tones and showing one of her characteristic facial expressions.
“Kakegurui” is a manga in the genre of drama, school, mystery, gambling and psychological suspense created by Homura Kawamoto in charge of the script and story and Tōru Naomura in charge of drawing and illustrations. Its publication began on March 22, 2014 in the magazine “Gangan Joker” of the Japanese publisher “Square Enix” and currently has 18 “tankobon” compilation volumes and more than 108 chapters.
In 2017, the MAPPA studio made an animated adaptation of the work, which contained 12 episodes in total and premiered on July 1. On January 9, 2019 its second season was released and in 2021 during the event “Netflix Festival Japan 2021” it was announced that the manga “spin-off” and prequel created by Homura Kawamoto called “Kakegurui Twin” would have an anime adaptation of 6 episodes which were released on August 4, 2022.
“Kakegurui” opens the doors of the prestigious private academy “Hyakkaō” whose student enrollment includes the richest, smartest and most skilled gamblers in Japan. In this way, their skills have allowed them to create a system of classes based on their results in games of chance, where millionaire amounts are bet, as well as the students themselves.
It is in this context that we meet Yumeko Jabami, a second year student who has recently transferred to the academy. She has an incredible passion for this type of games, which is quickly matched only by her incredible ability to triumph over all her rivals during the different games of chance at the school.
This is how Yumeko, together with the allies she gains in the different challenges, conquers the top of the “Hyakkaō” academy, something that will allow her to take absolute control of the institute, but that will not free her from gaining different enemies who will want to see her fall at all costs with different and very questionable methods during the process.
