Users around the world have noticed that when logging into many of Kadokawa’s domains, they remain inaccessible to anyone. The screen of the websites only offers a brief message explaining that the downtime is due to “maintenance” of the company’s domains. According to another company, NicoNico, it is a massive cyber attack, causing fans to theorize things about it. Kadokawa has not made anything public about it, so we can only wait and see.
Kadokawa and NicoNico suffer hacker attack on their sites
In a recent update of the social networks of the great Japanese video hosting site, NicoNico, the most difficult situation for the web has been presented, being attacked without allowing its workers to respond in time. Kadokawa, for its part, has also been affected in many of its websites that are under maintenance to recover the damage done and prevent this event from happening again to the data and series of its authorship.
Fans offer their support to both companies with positive words of encouragement: “A cyber attack, let’s hope it hasn’t affected the head office too much, I hope users stay out of it and don’t do anything irresponsible”, “In the statement it doesn’t offer an immediate recovery, so there will be no website this weekend”, “The attack is a massive one, who would commit such an atrocity, let’s just hope it doesn’t affect users as well”. They conclude that waking up and finding that their favorite site has been affected makes them feel somewhat demotivated, but they support the companies to recover.
Is this the first time that the servers of these companies have been attacked, being such large companies, it is not a common thing that their systems can be broken into, not even minor problems have been reported in relation to Kadokawa or NicoNico, so this is new. Maybe it is because it was a massive attack (many programmers/hackers). We know that Kadokawa has power in the industry with the acquisition of many companies in the medium, so much so that it has even announced a joint project of the mobile game free fire in creating an anime for it. These types of attacks are usually aimed at discrediting companies, even stealing important data such as financial data, contacts, IDs or access to certain domains. It can be really dangerous, from what has been said on behalf of NicoNico, the situation was taken in time, but it requires time to repair the damage and strengthen security.
