Earlier this month, excellent news was announced for Jujutsu Kaisen fans, as the popular franchise obtained a new and great achievement that is worth celebrating, however, when it was shared and became a viral topic on the web, this caused confusion among Internet users, since so far it has not been officially recognized by the Guinness World Records.
Jujutsu Kaisen 2 was the most searched in 2023
There is no doubt that if we talk about the most popular anime adaptations in recent years, the popular shonen by mangaka Gege Akutami appears, which from the beginning caused a sensation among readers for its story and character development. With its first season released in 2020, the manga increased its sales and fans expected a second installment that took place in 2023, as well as a movie in 2021.
Being already a consolidated franchise that enjoys great popularity both nationally and globally, it does not stop obtaining various recognitions, among them one of them went viral. The most recent success that Jujutsu Kaisen obtained was that of “Most popular Anime in the world”, this news was shared at the beginning of April by the Guinness World Records site.
This only increased the hype among fans for the acclaimed franchise, but what seemed like news and an achievement, generated confusion among Internet users. Due to the fact that this information was shared by the renowned Guinness World Records, it made some mistakenly assume that it had already obtained the record, which is that it has already taken this title away from Shingeki no Kyojin(Attack on Titan), which obtained it in 2020.
It is a fact that Jujutsu Kaisen was indeed the “World’s Most Popular Anime” of 2023, but the information obtained only refers to the second season, which was a huge success thanks to the fact that it adapted one of the most anticipated arcs, the “Shibuya Arc”, which is crucial in the development of the plot. This does not mean that it obtained the Guinness Record, it was simply the most searched anime title globally, even surpassing One Piece and leaving it in second place.
This information in turn was shared with data from Parrot Analytics that through statistics manages to position Jujutsu Kaisen ‘s interaction on the internet due to its fan base made up of Generation Z (ages 13 to 22) comprising 71.3% of viewers, Jujutsu Kaisen having a younger audience than One Piece and Attack on Titan.
Through the official Twitter/X of Jujutsu Kaisen it has been confirmed and shared with fans that the anime will be included in the next edition 2025 of the Guinness World Records Book, but only mentioning that it was the most popular TV anime program in the world, so the doubts and confusions have been clarified, besides it is still an achievement that fans have to celebrate.
In Jujutsu Kaisen we enter the struggle of the sorcerers of Japan against the “curses”, these born through traumatic experiences of people, fears, unfulfilled desires, etc.. These are formed through the “cursed energy” that is given off derived from these traumas. It is here where the students and wizards of the various schools of witchcraft throughout Japan, fight these curses that take strange and terrifying forms, as they are a silent threat, but very dangerous that looms over the inhabitants.
