Jujutsu Kaisen has built a loyal fanbase with its successful anime adaptation that attracted many people who were not familiar with this story. Every time something important happens in the manga, it becomes a trending topic on social media, showing how popular this story is among people around the world.
Sometimes, the Japanese government uses some of the most popular anime to promote the regions of the country and encourage more tourists to visit them. However, this does not seem to be the case for one of the most significant dates celebrated in Japan: Halloween. The Tokyo government seems to have made an unexpected decision based on an event from Jujutsu Kaisen that surprised many people.
Jujutsu Kaisen influenced cancellation of Halloween in Shibuya
The mayor of Shibuya district told reporters: “This year we make it clear to the world that Shibuya is not a place for Halloween events” “Please do not come to the Shibuya station area for Halloween”. To enforce this, they hired about 300 guards and 150 city officials to patrol the Shibuya area and monitor this, as well as preventing alcohol consumption in the area several days before Halloween.
In recent years, the number of people who have attended the Halloween celebrations in Tokyo, especially in Shibuya, has increased to an unprecedented level. Foreigners have been very attracted to this celebration because of the amazing atmosphere and the impressive costumes and cosplays that can be seen in this area on Halloween. So it is not surprising that every year more people flock to Shibuya at that time of year.
And it seems that Jujutsu Kaisen has drawn too much attention with the long-awaited Shibuya arc finally being animated. Many people were eagerly waiting for this arc because of the incredible events that happen in it. So it was expected that the number of people would exceed that of previous years and this would be reflected in the amount of garbage generated in a single day of celebration. That is why the mayor of Shibuya district invited people not to go to the area on Halloween, so it can be said that Jujutsu Kaisen influenced the final decision to cancel this celebration.
It is true that Jujutsu Kaisen did not directly have anything to do with this sudden decision to tell people not to go to Shibuya, but in a way, it influenced a lot in the decision because of the close date when this arc of Jujutsu Kaisen was released. It would not be strange that because of this event, many people would seek to go to Shibuya on Halloween night dressed as their favorite characters and even try to recreate some scenes seen in the story.
The anime culture in Japan has influenced a lot in recent years and has led to an increase in certain locations of different regions in the country. So the governments of the provinces of Japan will have to look for ways to control access to these regions in the future to prevent any accidents from occurring in these places crowded by anime fans.
