Japan gives you a free cosplay session for paying taxes!

Japan is undoubtedly a fascinating nation in every sense, in ancient times it was a destination that attracted the gaze of the great Spanish and English empires, and in modern hysteria the nation of the rising sun took its place in one of the cruellest passages of history. Today the country continues to cause devotion, admiration and many questions. Today the Asian nation is in the news once again due to a peculiar reward for its citizens for paying their taxes on time.

Japan incentivizes a new experience for its most “productive” taxpayers!

As we all know, the nations of the world subject their citizens to a tax regime to finance their projects as nation states, from financing education, transportation and roads are some of the issues that are the main priorities in which taxes are used and Japan is obviously no exception. But in some countries there are ways in which by declaring your annual expenses and income you can get a small refund (also called rebates) of those taxes. This time the “Toshima” district in Tokyo has come up with a new way to get those refunds to its taxpayers with an out-of-the-ordinary experience.

It turns out that the Toshima ward in Tokyo Japan has teamed up with a company called “Hacosta Co., Ltd” in charge of holding a cosplay festival called “acosta! @Ikebukuro Sunshine City” to include its taxpayers in a new experience for this year’s tax returns due in January 2024. The district reports that those who have paid in taxes between 530,000 (Platinum Plan) and 220,000 (Gold Plan) yen are entitled to participate in the festival with a free cosplay of their choice that includes a professional photo session with retouching and makeup.

He also detailed that Japanese citizens residing in the aforementioned district who have contributed between 100,000 and 60,000 yen will have the option to stay at the famous “Sunshine City Prince Hotel” during the holiday without prior registration. This new and exciting experience is due to the fact that the district collects around 2.3 billion yen, which means that instead of giving money back to its citizens by “giving back” they chose to offer them this experience in order to raise more funds and not have a deficit for the new fiscal year.

In addition, the local government also decided to encourage this new option to promote anime and manga in the city of Tokyo, something that would mean more taxes in the months that the festival takes place. Undoubtedly a very interesting and daring experience on the part of local governments in Japan to offer their citizens this type of events instead of giving them back the taxes derived from the “refunds”. So tell us what you think about this and if something similar was done in your country, would you accept or ask for your money back?
