When anime fans mention Otome Dori, many start saying that it is one of the worst adult anime adaptations, others say it is an anime that will leave you with traumas because of how supposedly strong the story is, but is it really the worst NTR anime ever?
Otome Dori is not the worst NTR anime ever.
Many of us who have seen Otome Dori will know that there are many more anime that share the NTR genre, but for newcomers who don’t know what it means, here is a brief explanation. NTR is a genre that has come to be present in multiple forms of entertainment and is well known for being an important part of the world of anime, manga, video games and light novels. These present us with very strong stories where the protagonist is deceived by the person they love the most, the cruel thing about it all is that the deception begins with blackmail, scams, but in the end they end up giving in to the darkest desires.
Officially, this genre loved by many and hated equally, was born in 2010, but there is a record that the genre had already been introduced in Japanese franchises belonging to the genre of video games called visual novels since 1995, being GLO-RI-A ~Kindan no Ketsuzoku~ one of the most important visual novels that contained this genre. Likewise, many of the anime adaptations of those times were based on such visual novels in which the NTR genre was present, so yes, NTR has long existed in the world of Chinese monkeys.
Thanks to that, NTR works like Otome Dori were born, but that work was the one that became super popular, because some anime fans felt it was too strong, and it became common to recommend it to new generations who wanted to get into the world of anime. This made too much noise everywhere on the internet, making it known as the worst NTR anime ever, but is it really so, the truth is no, Otome Dori is one of the few mildest works in the NTR world.
Not to mention several works that surpass Otome Dori we have one of the Blue visual novel series, known as Triangle Blue, where its story tells us that Asato and Akane have been together for years, but their relationship is still more than just platonic. Asato thinks that their happiness would last forever, however, one day Kyousuke, an old friend of Akane’s, would suddenly approach them and beg them to let him stay with them for a short period of time, so you can imagine what happened.
Another title that we could consider worse than Otome Dori is Ai Kyan Joukan where the plot tells us the story of Miyu an idol who has her manager as a boyfriend, something that the owner of the record label doesn’t like, since he is a bad person looking for idol girls. Soon the owner of the label threatens Miyu to run the company to his beloved, so she agrees to do everything he asks not to fire him, but this ends up liking it to such a degree of not caring that his beloved saw her with the owner of the label in perverse acts.
In the world of NTR there are many more stories that are completely stronger than Otome Dori, both in manga, anime, and visual novels.
