The anime “Horimiya” introduces us to an unusual duo: Kyouko Hori and Izumi Miyamura, whose good relationship seems unlikely at first glance. While Hori stands out for her combination of beauty and academic prowess, Miyamura projects a more reserved and aloof image in her school environment.
However, a chance meeting between the two triggers the revelation of their true selves. Despite Hori’s popularity at school, her domestic responsibilities limit her time to socialize with friends. On the other hand, Miyamura, who goes unnoticed, hides a world of tattoos and piercings that suggest an image of disconcerting kindness.
Despite their notable differences, they discover that they share unexpected similarities, which leads them to forge a close friendship and spend time together at Hori’s house. As they both shed their masks, they share with each other aspects of their lives that they keep hidden from the outside world. This peculiar relationship becomes the center of a story that invites us to explore the deeper layers of authenticity and human connection.
