Thanks to being one of the most representative figures of Japan, Hatsune Miku is one of the main faces when internet communities want to create content, that’s why we can see a lot of works that have her as the protagonist. And in recent days, the one that has gone viral is the illustration made by the user @vickie21579 who from his Twitter/X account brought us this representation of the idol that is not only perfect, but also links it to one of the best rated video games of 2024, we are referring to Balatro.
For those who don’t know it, Balatro is a poker style card game with a very marked aesthetic, and to represent this in the best possible way, the artist took the figure of Hatsune Miku herself and characterized her as if she were a Harlequin, a very characteristic character of Balatro. As you can see in the image, Miku has this colorful costume, which is accompanied by a makeup that continues with the color palette, but keeping details such as her classic light blue hair, creating a perfect combination of styles.
When this image became so viral, fans all over the world who came across the illustration did not take long to congratulate the artist for the good work he did to unite these two worlds, even dreaming of seeing Hatsune Miku inside Balatro. And is that the idol is recognized for several factors, one of the most representative is her vast career in the world of video games, such as her collaboration with Fall Guys or the most recent with Fortnite.
Hatsune Miku is a vocaloid or “virtual singer for tuner” developed by Yamaha companies, VOCALOID2, VOCALOID3 and VOCALOID4; her program was developed by Crypton Future Media, Piapro Studio. It has an image of a 16-year-old girl with moe anthropomorphism characteristics, meaning that things that are not human, such as objects or concepts, are given “moe” qualities (a lovable girl). She has come to be considered one of the most famous virtual Japanese idols worldwide. The seiyuu Saki Fujita is the one who gives voice to this vocaloid in its second version.
Although two others had already been distributed in the market, Hatsune Miku was the first Vocaloid release by Crypton Future Media. The idea behind her development was to achieve “a cute, female voice that professionals can create with”. The purpose of her design was to combine recognizable voice characteristics as part of the “Character Vocal” series. Its name means “The First Sound of the Future,” which is a shortening of the name “Hajimete no Oto.”
It was released on August 31, 2007 in the Vocaloid2 software. She had a great success, to the extent of being considered as the first Japanese virtual idol, as well as the first hologram singer. In the official merchandise, Hatsune Miku is usually accompanied by the rest of the Vocaloids that belong to Crypton Future Media: Megurine Luka, Kagamine Rin and Len, MEIKO, KAITO.
