Remember Happy Tree Friends?, they’re back in a new video game! If you used the internet on a regular basis during the 2000s, you surely remember this hyper-violent animated series created by Mondo Media that posed as a children’s cartoon. It’s been many years since we last saw this particular group of animals, so it’s refreshing to see them back in this official collaboration with the video game The Crackpet Show that has just been announced. Of course, this announcement came with a fun official trailer that gives us a good idea of how this unexpected crossover will work.

Happy Tree Friends characters come to The Crackpet Show!
First, a little background: If you don’t know The Crackpet Show, this is a shooter video game with roguelike elements (similar to Binding of Isaac or Enter the Gungeon) developed by Vixa Games. A group of cartoon animals must participate in a TV show to become famous. To achieve this, they must use a variety of different weapons to defeat, kill and destroy several enemies and bosses. So… Are we talking about a video game full of animated violence starring crazy animals? Yes, you can tell they were quite inspired by series like Happy Tree Friends, so this is a perfect collaboration for both franchises.
Vixa Games and distributor Ravenage Games announced this title called The Crackpet Show: Happy Tree Friends Edition, although it can also be purchased and downloaded as Downloadable Content for The Crackpet Show (If you already have the game in your collection). In this version, you will be able to control iconic characters from the violent animated series to participate in the crazy TV game show. Characters like Giggles the Squirrel, Cuddles the Rabbit, Toothy the Beaver, Nutty the Squirrel and many more will be available. And from what we can see in the trailer, the grotesque deaths that made the series so infamous will not be missing in this videogame.
This is one of those magical occasions in which, although it is not an official video game based on the classic online series, the aesthetics, graphics and gameplay of The Crackpet Show fit so well with the essence of the animated series, that it could be one without any problems. The release date for The Crackpet Show: Happy Tree Friends Edition will be September 27, 2023, and it will be available for every platform you can think of: PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One, Switch and on PC via Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG.
