GTA VI: New trailer disappoints fans on PC and Nintendo Switch 2

Rockstar Games once again made the networks tremble with the release of the second trailer for GTA VI, an installment that has been eagerly awaited for years by millions of players around the world. The new trailer has made it clear that the ambition behind this title is immense: stunning graphics, characters with personality, a story that promises action from the first minute and a setting so vivid that it looks like something out of an urban documentary. However, what is nowhere to be seen, once again, is confirmation of a PC version and no mention of the long-awaited Nintendo Switch 2.

GTA VI releases epic trailer, but no confirmation on PC and Nintendo Switch 2

The GTA trailer revealed more details about Lucia, the game’s female protagonist, and her criminal partner Jason, in a narrative reminiscent of the classic Bonnie and Clyde story, but in a modern setting. Both unfold in the fictional state of Leonida, clearly inspired by Florida, with a revamped Vice City that mixes palm trees, neon lights, social networks, violence and chaos. The city looks more alive than ever and is designed with a level of detail that surpasses any previous installment of the franchise.

Visually, the leap is impressive. Facial expressions, lighting effects, traffic density and the number of characters on screen confirm that Rockstar is taking full advantage of the power of next-generation consoles. And there’s the first key point: the game has a release date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox X Series X|S in 2026, as can be seen both on the official site and at the end of the trailer. But nowhere is there any mention of a PC version. Nor is there any trace of a possible adaptation for the Nintendo Switch 2, despite the growing expectations for Nintendo’s new console.

This has generated a wave of questions and complaints from the non-console gaming community. It is not the first time this has happened. In fact, it is almost a tradition that Rockstar ignores the simultaneous PC release, as it already happened with GTA V, Red Dead Redemption 2 and other titles. In all cases, the PC version arrived months or even years after the original release. But this time, there hasn’t even been a hint that such a version is on the way. And the silence regarding Nintendo’s new console is also striking, especially considering the success of the original Nintendo Switch.

The reasons behind this decision have not been officially explained, but they can be inferred. Developing a game with the dimensions and technical level of GTA VI is a titanic task, and optimizing it for two closed platforms like the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S is much easier than doing it for the huge variety of configurations that exist in the PC gaming world. In addition, higher initial sales tend to be concentrated on consoles, which represents a better business strategy in the short term.

Still, the annoyance is understandable. The PC community has been key to the sustained success of the franchise, especially because of mods, role-playing servers like those in GTA RP, and the creativity with which thousands of players expand the original experience. Ignoring that sector not only seems unfair, but may actually backfire in the long run. On the other hand, Rockstar’s failure to mention a possible Nintendo Switch 2 version could be interpreted as a technical decision: GTA VI seems so demanding that, at least for now, it would not have a viable version for less powerful hardware.

Console gamers are already preparing their systems for what will undoubtedly be one of the most important releases of the decade. Meanwhile, those who prefer to play on PC or are waiting for news about the Nintendo Switch 2 and GTA will have to keep waiting in silence, no dates, no clues, no promises. Rockstar is silent, and that doesn’t always mean that something good is coming.

In short, Grand Theft Auto VI promises to be a smash hit from day one. It has everything it needs to break records: charismatic characters, an explosive story, a vibrant city and graphics that push the limits of today’s technology. But that success will be incomplete as long as a fundamental part of the community remains disregarded. The second trailer excites, thrills and fuels expectations, but GTA also leaves a bitter taste for the millions who still don’t know if they will be able to play it on their preferred platform.
