God of War: Ragnarok announces its long-awaited arrival on PC

God of War: Ragnarok, a title developed by SIE Santa Monica Studio, announced its long-awaited release on PC during the State of Play held a few hours ago. With this, fans of this platform will finally be able to enjoy the latest story of Kratos and his son Atreus, with a lot of additions, especially in the technical side, plus the wait will not be very long, since the exact release date was confirmed: September 19.

God of War: Ragnarok arrives on PC next September 19

With these words spoken by Kratos at the end of the trailer, Sony wanted to mark a bombshell with this announcement made during one of its most important events so far this year. Since the launch of Horizon Zero Dawn (PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5) in 2020, many titles, until then console-exclusive, have been progressively coming to compatibles since PlayStation opened its doors to the large PC community around the world.

Thus, the developers of God of War Ragnarok together with Jetpack Interactive (the studio in charge of developing the previous God of War port) will seek to continue the path left by their previous work, delivering a sequel that can take advantage of all the capabilities that computers have today. Thus, this port promises to have all the technologies that we will detail in the following lines:

God Of War Ragnarok
  • Unlocked Frame rate: This option is the most outstanding of all, since it will enable us to play with all the capacity allowed by the PC we currently have. 360, 240, 144, 75, 60, 40 or 30 FPS will be compatible with the game, which is why most gamers will be able to have a smooth experience regardless of their configuration when playing this game.
  • Resolutions up to 4K or higher: Another feature we can expect from this port is the possibility of experiencing the journey between father and son at a native resolution of 4K or higher. In this way, Santa Monica Studio will seek to expand the cinematic feel of its title while you travel through the different and breathtaking views of the Nine Realms of Norse mythology, present during this journey.

  • Scaling technologies: A technology that has become the standard for the PC gaming industry in recent years is image reconstruction through artificial intelligence or deep learning machines. Following this line, God of War Ragnarok will have full integration for NVIDIA DLSS (3.7), AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (3.1) and Intel XeSS (1.3) allowing all compatible graphics cards to have these rescaling options so necessary nowadays, given the graphic load of the latest generation games.
  • Support for super ultra widescreen displays and the inclusion of the Valhalla DLC: This new port will allow us to enjoy even more of the game’s magnificent setting thanks to support for ultra widescreen (21:9) and superultra widescreen (32:9) displays along with the release of the fantastic roguelite genre DLC bearing the name Valhalla, included with the game since its launch.

Finally, and as it was known since the release of the trailer, God of War: Ragnarok is now available for pre-order from Steam and Epic Game Store. Thus, all those who pre-order the game before its launch will be able to access two skins for Kratos and Atreus (one cosmetic per character). On the other hand, there will be the Digital Deluxe Edition which will include the base game, Dark Valley Armor for Kratos, Dark Valley Attire for Atreus, grips for his weapons, the official digital soundtrack of the game and a mini digital art book by Dark Horse.
