Although it has been more than two years since the initial announcement at Tokyo Game Show 2022, it seems that the Genshin Impact anime series project, in collaboration with animation studio Ufotable, is finally gaining momentum. Recently, miHoYo has posted a job opening on its official website looking for an “Animation Scriptwriter – Genshin Impact” in Shanghai.
The Genshin Impact anime is still in development and could premiere in the fall of 2025.
The job description states that the candidate will be “responsible for overseeing the scripting of the Genshin Impact animation project in accordance with the content of the game setting.” An important detail is the preference for “Japanese speaking and communication” skills, which reinforces the collaboration with Japanese studio Ufotable, known for their work on popular anime such as Demon Slayer. This collaboration promises a high-quality adaptation, with Ufotable’s signature attention to detail and fluid animation.
The delay in the development of the animated series is probably attributed to the busy schedule of Ufotable, which has been involved in the production of important animation projects such as Demon Slayer just to mention one, being that unlike other studios that oversaturate themselves with extremely short productions and production times, they prefer to take their time and deliver an excellent audiovisual product.
Ufotable is renowned for its exceptional animation quality, with a distinctive style that combines stunning visual effects with meticulous attention to detail. Their use of CGI combined with traditional animation creates dynamic and fluid battle scenes, and their vibrant color palettes bring the worlds they depict to life. From the intense sword fights in Demon Slayer to the dazzling magic in the Fate series, Ufotable has consistently demonstrated its ability to produce visually stunning animation. This dedication to quality, while sometimes involving longer production times, generates high expectations for the animated adaptation of Genshin Impact.
While the job posting does not confirm a definite release date, it has generated speculation and excitement among fans. According to unconfirmed rumors on the Chinese forum NGA, the series could premiere in the fall of 2025 under the title “Gengami Hana Kaile Music Chapter.” These same leaks, which should be taken with caution, suggest the participation of artists such as Shiina Ringo, Yorushika, Masaki Suda, RADWIMPS and Lin Junjie in the soundtrack, with musical supervision by Kensuke Ushio.
What can be confirmed, however, is that the search for a screenwriter indicates that the anime project is on track, and although the fall 2025 date is not official, anticipation for the anime adaptation of Genshin Impact continues to grow. There is no doubt that the Genshin Impact anime aims to be one of the most anticipated and successful releases, with a production and animation quality that will undoubtedly be worth all the waiting that fans continue to do.
