Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact again accused of plagiarism

Currently, we could say that “Genshin Impact” easily enters the category as one of the most successful recent games in the industry, and even being part of the most popular games in recent years. An achievement that seems to be no surprise when we consider the quality that the Hoyoverse company has been delivering since its beginnings, as each region turns out to be incredible in what it proposes, with the story, art, soundtrack and its characters so attractive in conceptual design.

However, the controversies in the fandom of “Genshin Impact” exist in the same way, since its beginnings, contrasting with the excellent course that the game had. To give some examples that you may not know, we can mention the hunt for leakers who illegally previewed the game’s content, the skin colors that the characters have in the Sumeru region, or the criticized anniversary that granted a miserable amount of rewards. And now, a new discussion arises around Navia:

Genshin Impact in trouble again after another plagiarism controversy!

For the moment, Navia’s character was introduced during the Fontaine region, that is, the most recent within “Genshin Impact“. Although at the moment, his attacks and abilities are not officially known, a leak several weeks ago gave us a glimpse of what they would look like. But of course, that’s not exactly the issue at hand. Apparently, since their attacks came to light, a specific person could notice that they seemed to be a plagiarism of a character originated in the following game…

The affected game is titled “Vindictus” (Mabinogi: Heroes) and was released in Asia during 2010 as an MMO, that is, 10 years before the first version of “Genshin Impact“. Apparently, one of its characters known as Rin performs a series of attacks that, according to fans, seem to have been copied by the developers of Hoyoverse when designing the gameplay that Navia will have in the future. Below you will be able to see the following comparisons so you can draw your own conclusions.

As you probably noticed in the video that is all over the social networks, it is evidently very obvious and undeniable that there is a clear similarity in every move that Navia performs. From his fighting stance when attacking forward, the slash that doesn’t differ one bit, and even, the ending of the set, where the novelty character from “Genshin Impact“, just like Rin from “Vindictus“, flies with an umbrella briefly during the animation seen in the time lapse.

Of course, this didn’t go unnoticed in the community, because at this very moment, you can find a variety of reactions and opinions regarding the matter that we will compile below: “It’s not the first time that in Genshin Impact they copy from another game!” “It’s impossible to defend Hoyoverse!” “Everyone knows they always do the same!” Without a doubt, many of the unfounded criticisms in the comments of a large number of forums, are really negative, but what do you think?

On the other hand, “Genshin Impact” was released during September 28, 2019. Currently, it has an amount of 5 regions in total, where you can explore extensive content for free, as well as get characters in the same way. As a brief reminder, an anime of the franchise was announced in September 2022, which will be adapted by the popular studio Ufotable (Fate, Kimetsu no Yaiba). Unfortunately, no further in-depth details are known yet.
