Recently on the Reddit platform there was a publication where they talked about the best girls of the anime 2023, where the series The Apothecary Diaries, as well as Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End made their appearance, because apparently the Internet fans of both franchises did not hesitate a moment to place their favorite waifu and to no one’s surprise, the cute apothecary Maomao and the beautiful elf Frieren topped the comments.

All this commotion for choosing the best girl 2023 arose from a vote that was held in Animebracket, where many waifus participated and the winners were Maomao and Frieren; among the nominees were the same elf and Fern from the anime Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Hakari Hanazono, Inda Karane and Eiai Nano from The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You, as well as the same apothecary and Gyokuyou from The Apothecary Diaries.
Many comments were made on the original post, being that those who were surprised with the “victory” of The Apothecary Diaries protagonist came up in a lot of messages with this theme: “I guess everyone will be happy with this result. Maomao’s freeze and supremacy!!!”, “Proud that my Maomao vote counts!!!”.
We must say that the voting was incredibly close, with both girls being practically tied throughout, at the end users couldn’t believe that neither of the two overcame the other. Many of the netizens were very astonished by the tie of these two girls and affirmed that they were undoubtedly one of the best waifus that 2023 left us, they are so loved by the general public that they are still being talked about today.
But we could also see the surprise at this tie between the waifus: “I think they’re both equally great, so this seems right”, “A bloody tie in the final, no way. What an amazing contest. I hereby request to officially crown you both as the best Girl of 2023”, “Frieren and Maomao got the exact same votes out of 884… How weird is that hahaha?”. The surprise generated by this whole situation was something strange indeed.
Many anime fans claimed that they had witnessed some ties in different votes, but these were in the preliminaries, not in the final, as it happened in this case. Fans of both series are very happy and in their comments they say so.
There is no doubt that both girls with their respective anime series managed to captivate their audience. On the one hand, we have the apothecary Maomao, a young girl who was stripped from her home and sold to the royal palace, her intelligence and knowledge make her courageous inside and outside the palace, this character made us fall in love with her personality, her beauty and her outstanding leadership.
Now we have Frieren from the anime Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, she is an elf who participated in an epic battle along with a group of brave warriors who after separating promise to meet again in a few years, her journeys will take us to know a magical world, where happiness, sadness and loss play a very important role for the evolution of this character.
We can say that the tie is well deserved for both girls, who with their personality, their beauty and their respective stories managed to reach the hearts of their fans and still continue to add fans to their ranks, their series were the best that gave us the anime season autumn 2023 and at this point their sequels are more than expected. So, if you still don’t know any of these series, now is a good time to discover them for the first time and be captivated by fantastic worlds, amazing animations and interesting characters.
