The Final Fantasy franchise is one of the most beloved by players from all over the world, being that its most recent release, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was listed as one of the best titles of 2024, so much so that even when it was released earlier this year it is still in the news. And now the most recent one came from the game’s director, who gave his point of view on the use of mods, but more precisely those containing H-style content, which apparently is very popular within the community dedicated to creating these works.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth director wants players to stay away from “whimsical” mods
The latest game in the franchise, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is about to be officially released on PC, with a date confirmed for January 23, 2025, and as expected every time a game is released on this platform, the community of modders get to work to create all kinds of works. And in particular, thanks to the “waifus” present in the game like Tifa or Aerith, they originate many H-style mods, something that is very popular, but that led Naoki Hamaguchi, director of the game, to give his feelings about it.
Hamaguchi mentioned how Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will not have an official support for mods, as it is something they were not working on and will not do in the future, but he is well aware that fans, in their eagerness to include all kinds of creations to the game, will make their own works published in specialized pages. That is why Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will also have support for these, but what caught our attention is the emphasis that he would not like to see “offensive” mods.
With this, the director wants players to unleash their imagination, but without anything that could be harmful to other fans or especially not wanting to see their beloved characters “craving” in unexpected ways. And is that the different “waifus” that can be seen in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will give free rein for mod creators to perform their work indiscriminately.
Although the game director’s words are ringing in the networks, it is expected that H-style mods with protagonists such as Tifa, Aerith or more girls in the game will be released as soon as the PC version arrives in a few months. So, although Hamaguchi wishes a community with less “craving”, the truth is that the networks will be flooded with works of all kinds, especially those where the H is the main spice.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the last game released of the saga last February 29 for the PlayStation 5 console, being the continuation of the remake of Final Fantasy VII. Following the gameplay of past installments, this one is based on real-time combat, where not only melee attacks and weapons are the main attraction, but the use of magic of all kinds is also present. On the other hand, this game ended up being an excellent sequel, as well as one of the best games in the franchise and one of the best games released during 2024.
Finally, it is worth mentioning that the PC version is scheduled to be released on January 23, 2025.
