Docomo, Netflix and Shueisha launch historic collaboration in Japan

NTT Docomo, in collaboration with Netflix and Shueisha, has announced an innovative campaign called the NTT Docomo × Netflix × Weekly Shonen Jump Dream Tag Campaign. This new initiative seeks to offer Docomo customers in Japan more affordable and attractive access to mainstream entertainment services for manga and anime fans by combining streaming subscriptions with access to one of Japan’s most popular manga magazines.

An initiative has been revealed through a PDF document posted on NTT Docomo’s official website, which has the name NTT Docomo × Netflix × Weekly Shonen Jump Dream Tag Campaign and focuses on offering a more accessible and exciting experience for customers who combine Netflix and Weekly Shonen Jump services. The campaign, which will run from September 17, 2024 to November 30, 2024, targets subscribers of the eximo, ahamo and Gigaho plans offered by the Docomo company

Through the information shared, customers who subscribe to Netflix Standard with Ads (790 yen per month in Japan) and Weekly Shonen Jump Digital Subscription (980 yen per month in Japan) within the same month and meet the campaign requirements will receive up to 483 “d Points” limited in time and usage. They will receive these each month for up to 3 months of the campaign and these points can be redeemed for a variety of purchases and services within the Docomo ecosystem.

In addition, the campaign includes an additional promotion for those who set up the payment method known as d Payment, for Weekly Shonen Jump Digital Subscription, there will also be the 20% Cashback Campaign for d Payment × Weekly Shonen Jump Subscription. In it, participants will receive 20% d Points of the monthly subscription cost, also limited in time and usage, this additional rebate is in addition to the overall benefit of the campaign.

Combining the 483 dPoints from the main campaign, plus an additional 108 dPoints for subscribing to Netflix Standard with Ads through Docomo, plus 179 dPoints from the 20% rebate campaign, customers can accumulate up to 770 dPoints in total. These can be used to pay only 1,000 yen/month towards the cost of both services for up to 3 months, effectively reducing the total cost of both services to only 1,000 yen per month, instead of paying 1770 yen.
